This used to be an entertaining, light hearted magazine show with some good guests and features - Then it fell victim to the moralising box tickers and now constantly pushes social justice till it hurts. There's barely a single item on the programme that doesn't have a bias or preachy underlying message, it's like they are constantly needling the viewer be it through carefully chosen charity appeals or guests selected to push their viewpoint. A party political broadcast for the socially bewildered masquerading as a family show.
Alex has zero charm, unpleasant voice . Therefore that show is wasted by having her as a presenter. So many lovely presenters could be amazing at that role !
Whilst I agree the One (and only) show is a jack-of-all-trades, I would argue that it is a master one thing: Survival. Great shows - good shows - OK, tolerable shows always land on their feet in times of adversity.
What am I referring to? We all remember Carol Thatcher's disgraceful backstage antics. we can all remember the embarrassing headlines: "Thatcher banished from The'Wog'Show", "once a Thatcher, always a Thatcher". Yet despite her shocking onslaught, the One show kept it's head up, dealt with the situation and now is as healthy as ever. "The One show must go on" springs to mind.
The One show survived Carol Thatcher, it survived Hardeep Singh. Any show that can survive as many assassination attempts as Fidel Castro deserves a place in the hearts and minds of the British viewing public.

With all the issues going on over at ITV with 'This Morning' actually 'The One Show' is benefitting hugely, as it continues to be a consistently warm and familiar programme.
Headed these days by Alex Jones, who provides that anchor, it continues to be informative, warm stuff, though massively biased towards the BBC and its programmes.
Isn't ITV's 'This Morning' just an excuse at times for celebs to come on and promote their book/album/play though?
The BBC needs programmes like this in its roster, and I hope they continue to give it the exposure it deserves moving forwards.
It'll never convince me Jermaine Jenas is a TV presenter though...
