When Ben is in the hospital, he's asked to name his favorite TV shows. He mentions Who's The Boss? and Moonlighting, "and the one that comes in between them... the little kid on it's really good." He was, of course, talking about Growing Pains, which came on between the two shows, and he was the little kid.
When Ben is in the taxi, he comments on how much the driver looks like the Skipper on Gilligan's Island, and notices that tbe license has the name J. Grumby on it. The cab driver was played by Alan Hale Jr. who played the Skipper, and his character's real name - which was mentioned only in the pilot episode - was Jonas Grumby.
Ben asks if anyone wants to play "Super Vito Brothers", he was obviously referring to Super Mario Brothers (1985) but said the former because of copyright
Guest star Danny Cooksey (New Ben) had previously starred in "Diff'rent Strokes" (1978). His DS costar Dana Plato, had appeared in S1 E6: "Mike's Madonna Story". Alan Thicke (who plays Jason Seaver), sang the theme song of the mentioned series.
