Escape

This story proceeds over very familiar territory: an escaped criminal holding a family hostage, coupled with marital difficulties in the hostage family.

But there is one rather amazing "twist" to the expected developments and I won't even hint as to what it is. Just suspend your disbelief for a few minutes and enjoy it.

I would very much like to know the location where the mining camp exteriors were shot, because it does not seem like a temporary set put together for one or two scenes. In fact, I believe I have seen the same location in several earlier episodes.

The acting is proficient, but the story is the main attraction here.

As you know, desperate killer Burke some hit the bricks after he issued his own parole from some unknown prison near death valley and found the mine where Harry is the mining engineer and his stresses out little woman, evil, has had it up to here and wants a divorce nobody else in the mine crew knows about. The rest of the community heads to green pastures for the summer, which they claim is three months. Those of us who have been there know summer lasts at least double that estimate. Well, truth be told, killer Burke takes the happy couple hostages, but doesn't kill them or the shows over. On DVD, there are no tragic endings. We know that. The fun point is NOT a spoiler. In the final scene, look for a car driving left to right in the far away scenery.
