Pretty Standard but funny

This is a fairly ordinary episode that is made passable by reliably good acting and writing. In other words, we're in sitcom territory but it's still Cheers so it's not bad.

This is one of those cases where Sam is actually sort of right. He's made it clear to Diane that he is done with her and is moving on with his life. Diane won't accept that, and decides to mess with Sam's current courtship. In the real world Diane is borderline stalking Sam, but eh, it's a sitcom.

Ironically, Diane is mostly the straight man here as Sam's attempts to save face get more elaborate. This is boilerplate by now, but it's okay.

Same Old Same Old

I agree with the previous reviewer. One can only take so much on again, off again, stuff. Obviously, there is a lot of witty banter and no one is satisfied. But after a while I started to feel uncomfortable. The little extras are the best. That older married couple in Sam's bathroom is funny. Carla and her kittens. And that great waiter who must feel he is in the Twilight Zone. I hope thing move forward a bit soon.
