One of the poorer episodes of season 2, with a ridiculously convoluted plot that springs one coincidence after another.
Let's just say a man is murdered on the way to a dude ranch and the Angels are hired to figure out whodunit. At least four or five suspects are in the mix, and the usual red herrings are thrown at the viewer. One of the red herrings is Ed Cole, dude ranch foreman, who sticks a burr under Sabrina's saddle in order to make her horse run wild. I guess he did it because he's a jerk. Kate Jackson gets credit for doing her own riding, and quite impressively. The rest of the Angels and Bosley fake it with high camera angles.
Woodrow Parfey plays a bumbling sheriff that would have made The Andy Griffith's show Don Knotts proud. Hill Street Blues James B. Sikking shows up as one of the suspects but gives a bland performance. The reason for all these suspects meeting at a place like a dude ranch and one of them murdering an innocent man to steal his identity is one of Charlie's Angels worst tropes, committing a crime that's worse than the original. And no self-respecting murdered sticks around after the body is found unless they want to be caught.
Not sure what the highlight of this episode is. Maybe it's Kelly and Kris chasing suspects in a horse drawn wagon, the film sped up to have it appear they are moving faster. Or maybe's it's Bosley getting tossed from his horse into a lake. Poor Bos, played for laughs once again.
