There are a few loose threads in this early French feature, and probably a key mistranslation of a title. However, it's a valiant, although not entirely successful effort tell a more complicated story that a two or three-reel picture might attempt. Furthermore, the acting is far more restrained than the usual French short subject.... although given that I mostly look at comedy shorts, that might not signify anything.
