Rallarsving

Being interested in Martial arts, I have found this show to be very entertaining, although a bit gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Its premise is very similar to that of the show "Go Warrior" on discovery, where a guy travels the world and tries out different styles of martial arts and meets martial arts legends. Rallarsving differs in the aspect that there are 2 guys traveling the world in the show instead of one. Also, there are some regular spots on the show, like the "brottogram", where one of the 2 guys in the show is delivered, in a similar way to flowers being delivered, to some poor unexpecting person and then wrestles him/her.

Generally, there is a lot more humor in this show than in "Go Warrior", and the two hosts complement each other well. They also wrestle a lot and give each other wedgies all the time (hence the gayness). All in all, a very entertaining program that differs a lot from show to show yet has the same fun feel every time.

I've only recently got to see this show in subtitles, as I don't speak Swedish - But I must say, this show was great. Two martial artists from Sweden; Musse & Andreas, go on travels across the world, training with some of the top martial artists the world has ever seen.

From the few episodes I've seen, this is very geared towards an MMA & Muay thai base, which is great. They train with shooto legends such as Rumina Sato, Mamoru and Yuki Nakai. They also train with muay thai superstars, Peter Aerts and Remy Bonjasky. Being that I'm actually going to visit Aert's gym to train muay thai, it was interesting to get to see their training schedule.

I'd recommend this show to any MMA or martial arts fan. It's a shame there is no official subtitles for this show, as it really helps to understand the dialogue between Musse and Andreas (although they do speak English at times).

i wish everyone one could see this show. it's hard to come by and in another language. but subbed versions are out there so don't give up. these guys were so ahead of the curve as far as a show about checking out different martial arts around the world. they're great characters with even better chemistry. it's been years since its aired and i still watch it smiling and laughing. on it's wikipedia page you can see all the places they've been and people they've met. if you're an mma fan, then you can see some of the guys that weren't even famous in the USA yet- still hashing it out in japan, trying to make a living. andreas and musse make fools of themselves trying to spar with or learn from masters and THEIR art is that while they never take themselves too seriously, they are always respectful to their hosts.

Not being a native of Sweden I find some of the aspects of this show both confusing and humorous, perhaps in a way that was not intended. Having said that, this is one of the best television series ever to abridge the gap between those who understand, or 'get' the martial artist mentality and those who don't. Both Musse and Andreas clearly show that they have great respect for all practitioners of martial arts, regardless of skill or fame or style. They approach each style and practitioner with curiosity and even though they may dislike what they experience from time to time, they never let anyone's feelings down.
