I loved parts of this show. It was a complex plot with lots of twists and turns. Semih the bad guy was completely delusional about Hanzade which made some of the storylines comical. I really liked the last episode it was beautiful ending.
I've enjoyed Turkish dramas before but this is nowhere near good. The characters are not believable and the people just don't know how to act! (wonder how they got through the auditions!) It's like they're reading the script as they go! The storylines might be plausible but if misery after misery is all what a family goes through then it becomes dead boring! I'm just wondering if there's going to be a dramatic payoff that's worthy! I care about the characters Hanzade and Galip but Galip should just make up his mind like a man where his wife and lover are concerned!
Ice watched quite a few Turkish dramas and I'm well on my way with Burned Cocoon. For one thing the Turkish actors are incredibly beautiful. I think because the TV series are so long one gets very familiar with the characters. I get obsessed and every evening I watch at least 2 or 3 episodes. Because we have so long to get to know the characters it's easy to get involved in their lives. Some people think that the acting is not good in Burned Cocoon but I disagree. Some critics think that they don't like the way the male characters treat female characters. If that's the case then one should watch movies from other countries. If you don't want to see a true characterization then don't watch foreign films. I don't want to see a film where false ideas of culture are given. I love the romance and the passion. I love that we get to see the architecture and the landscape. When I'm involved with a Turkish drama I never want them to end. Burned Cocoon is no exception.
I binge watched this series and became increasingly moved by the storyline and the actors. Contrary to what some "American" reviews have lamented, I found the romantic interactions between the characters intense, culturally relevant and well done. It reminded me of my childhood European idea of romance where discreet looks, small gestures and the power of touch were electrifying, unlike Hollywoodian movies where sexual obsessiveness is so perverse and explicit and that you wonder what level they will have to take it to next to elicit viewer response.
I did find the the storyline of Semih was a bit exaggerated but maniacs are called such for a reason.
I really enjoyed learning about some of the customs and places in Turkey. I'm hooked on Turkish Drama. America is not the be all and end all when it comes to acting nor I feel is it the beacon of world culture and tradition that others should measure their own from. Thank you to all who were involved in this series. I respect and appreciate your work.

Seriously they need to get a grip on their emotions. They throw things and scream in anger, they sob hysterically when things make them sad, it's like they have no emotional control at all. Stalking women seems to be considered the height of romance. The kind of pursuing behavior they display would be considered a crime in most US states. And the spoiled little kid is very annoying but you can tell that the series, like his family, think he's adorable. I want to shake him. :)
The main reason I reviewed this is because I cannot understand the little blurb on what it is about. I have watched the whole thing and the 'secret marriage' etc makes no sense. That is not what this series is about and I don't see a secret marriage anywhere in it. I think someone confused a different series with this one. Someone who has the admin rights should change it to something more appropriate to the series.
