Disconnected

A woman comes home from shopping to find that all her magnets have dropped off the fried and, for some reason they will no longer stick to metal objects. However tis is only the first strange thing that she notices as her eggs fall upwards out of her box, the ice in her freezer has turned to water and the water in her glass is ice.

This strange premise is used well to create a weird series of events that kept me watching to see where it went and eventually took the film to a reasonably good punchline that I didn't see coming. The direction works well with the basic gag to build an air of mystery that is more wonder than menace, hence allowing the joke to be enjoyed rather than being an anti-climax because the audience had been made to think it was all serious and deep. The idea is original and it works best as its own entity (rather than being part of a sketch show) because you're not quite sure where it is heading and you're not looking for the comedy payoff. Not brilliant but rather amusing and charming with roundly good delivery.
