Twelve aspiring restaurateurs compete before chef Gordon Ramsay as he works to open a world-class restaurant in Los Angeles and discover the country's next culinary star.

For their team challenge both teams had to clean and prep squid to Chef Ramsay's expectations.

The third night in the kitchen finds the remaining chefs cracking under the pressure of Gordon Ramsay and his hot temper.

For the team challenge, both teams had to set up a dining table to Ramsay's specifications, the winning team were treated to massages but the losing team had to clean silverware and set all 100 tables in the dining room before service.

For the team challenge, Ramsay created a new menu presenting pasta dishes for service, the teams had 20 minutes to turn raw dough into pasta. The winning team was treated to wine and cheese. The losing team prepared the remaining pasta.

The the team challenge, Ramsay tested their palates with the blind taste test. The winning team went wine tasting with Ramsay and the losing team had to clean the restaurant's pots and pans.

The remaining five chefs were combined into one team wearing black jackets, the winner of the individual challenge received a helicopter trip over L.A. the losers were forced to clean the dining room.

The remaining chefs had fifteen minutes to create an original dish from a tray of fifteen leftovers ingredients from the previous service. The winner joined Ramsay to a taping of Good Day Live.

The final 3 contestants had to create a soufflé, the chef who came closest to creating the soufflé had the 1st pick in selecting an ingredient to make for service: beef, chicken or tuna, the chef that came in 2nd, can only choose what was left, the chef that came in last didn't have a choice.

The two final contestants prepared for their final individual challenge, where the winner would receive an advantage for dinner service,

the two finalists designed their half of the Hell's Kitchen restaurant to their own themes and they chose the members of their teams from the previously eliminated contestants.
