Shows reasonable disciplinary actions, helps kids and parents with bringing up the issues within the household. The people giving low ratings ... y'all are what's wrong with the society of kids today . No discipline letting kids run wild. Without discipline and some kind of structure kids grow up to be non-functioning adults in society and just cause issues all around. Not once were the kids abused by Jo's way of discipline or structure , however I do believe before she stepped in quite a few families were on the verge of mental or physical abuse. Was the show a bit scripted yes of course , what reality show isn't. But it is also informative.
This show should be required viewing for any parents who have ever felt at a loss with their young children. The nanny, Jo, is a very personable, pleasant young woman. She shows by example what should be done with children and parents. I will admit that her schedules can be a little much, but if they suffice to get the family working together, then I guess the viewers can stand it. The thing I like the most about it is that she teaches the parents to play with their children and enjoy them, instead of just disciplining them. Discipline is necessary, but you don't need as much of it if you are enjoying your children and loving them. A child needs to know where the lines are drawn, so a naughty spot is a handy gadget until they understand for themselves. But discipline, or correction, will never take the place of leading the way, instead of pushing from behind. The reason Jo leaves half way through the show, is to allow the parents to see if they can handle it yet by themselves. This shows up any weak spots in the parents' approach and can be corrected easily in the last 10 minutes of the show. Wouldn't you love to see what this looked like if they actually had to shoot it in 60 minutes? By the way, don't confuse this show with Nanny 911 which has several different nannies, assigned to 'cases'. Those nannies are very standoffish and mostly it consists of telling the parents what they are doing wrong.
Being or becoming a parent is definitely not an easy task, especially with our busy schedules. The question is, how do you balance your work life and raise your kids? Thankfully Jo Frost puts it right. She finds middle ground between parents and their kids so there is no power struggles and of course frequent misbehaving. Of course some kids consider Jo to be "mean" when in reality she's being strict and eventually they learn to follow through. I like how she admonishes any irresponsible parent and gets them to get with it. I learned many parenting things from this show, from potty training, time-outs, rewards, homework time and so on. A must watch for any parent!
I used to nanny for multiple families and would've loved the tips that Jo gives on this show! For those that have written negative reviews, are they watching the same show as I am? Yes, the kids are out of control in the beginning and that is why Jo is called upon to help bring order in the home. She doesn't do anything abusive and loves on the parents and the children. She's there to first observe, and then give feedback after.
There truly are families out there that allow their kids to run all over them and this show is not exaggerating that. I don't feel like Jo is insincere at all! It doesn't seem staged, and I think she gives many fantastic techniques to utilize to help families to better understand their own kids and implement rules that are effective. I don't like to write reviews too often, but I really felt this show needed another positive one.

Helpful for children to realize how they are acting and you can see that jo is the supernanny!
