I just want to say to all those that badmouth Dog, you have to have something going wrong in your life. Who can look down on all the good that Dog and his crew are doing??They are not hurting anyone that doesn't deserve to go down. Dog, Beth, Leland and Tim you have my complete respect and admiration. You take the bad guys off the streets and try to make a better life for all....good guys and bad.If all the people in this world had the hearts that you guys do it would be a better place.all i can say is keep up the great work you are doing and know that there are plenty of fans that stand behind the great work you do and the great message you send to all.
A fine and entertaining reality show depicting what happens to deadbeat losers that don't follow the rules of the bail bondsman. Watch as Dog smashes and trashes his way through the slime of the earth, and be thankful that there are people out there willing to do what the Dog does. This is normally a thankless and relatively low paying job that few are willing to do. If it weren't for people like the Dog, willing to risk their lives every time they go out, there would be much more riffraff out there. Certainly a superior program to 99% of the commercial filled, trashy, not remotely funny sitcoms(filled with canned laughter every other line of dialogue), and moronic, dull, made for pea wit dramas that fill the network airwaves night after night. A unique and refreshing change from the usual trite teenybopper fare. THE DOG RULES!!! Watch and learn.
When you come across "Dog the Bounty Hunter" on the television, the first thought that goes through your mind is, "these people just stepped out of Wrestle Mania 1985!". "Dog" Chapman is a bounty hunter in the Hawaiian Islands, and he, along with his family, hunts criminals that skip out on bail. The best part of this reality show is the personalities of the people involved in the hunt. Dog and his wife are the perfect match of eighties aqua net hair and biker duds; if you saw them on the street I promise you would stare. After the fugitives are caught, and often manhandled and maced by Dog and his cohorts, the Dog always attempts a heart to heart with them to convert his captures to a better way of life that won't lead them behind bars. Dog thinks it is his duty to try to help because, long ago, he once was a fugitive involved in killing a man in a drug deal gone wrong. Now he hunts those like he once was, trying to right his own past wrongs to society.
It's too bad that IMDb doesn't provide a whole lot of information because this show is really interesting (at least, I think it is). Basically, it's about a family of bail-bondsmen (and women) led by gruff, blue-collar (and intimidating) patriarch "Dog" Chapman. This is a literal family, mind you, where his son, brother, nephew and wife work alongside him to maintain his business. This is a man who comes from a very rough background to become a figure of redemption and responsibility for the state of Hawaii. The most interesting aspect, I believe, is watching the character study of someone who is very street-smart, unlike someone such as myself who comes from a very safe, middle-class upbringing and college eduction.
Bounty Hunters from what most people in reviews here claim they are low lives and are white trailer park trash. Not all bounty Hunters are like that. The best example was Ralph"Papa" Thorson whose life inspired the book and the Movie the Hunter which was Steve Mcqueen's last movie. Thorson was a honorable man. He did his job tracking down Bail jumpers people who were either guilty of a crime or staring at three strikes and a jail sentence. Papa brought them in every time Because usually a great deal of money was on the line or someone's house was on the line. Papa also took in some of the felons he caught and gave them jobs or a roof over their head. After they came out of jail. After Papa Died his wife Dottie took over the business and ran it the way Papa did.Papa alway believed in redemption and second chances.
Duane "Dog " Chapman and his wife Beth are right from the same mold that Papa was made from. Dog and Beth have made mistakes which included jail time for Dog it was time in a Texas jail for murder. However when he came out a few people believed in him and helped him turn his life around. So he became a Bounty Hunter and attempts to do the same thing. He offers redemption and hope. A lot of people call Dog and his family names. But what about the people who run and let other people lose homes cars or great sums of money. Dog and his family have a lot riding on this usually anywhere from 10 thousand dollars to sometimes 50 thousand dollars. The bail jumper if not caught and brought to jail or court makes them liable to lose that money. Those people are the true trash. Dog Chapman and his family at least try to offer them Hope and redemption. Sometimes the answer isn't always there until someone points it out. The show is maybe the best thing reality TV has to offer. At best it's inspiring. At worst it's entertaining.

- Erros de gravaçãoThe bails bond man Nick Lindblad is not listed among the cast even though he appears in several episodes. On Beth's phone his father's name is misspelled as James Lindbland.
