Awe, man, brilliant! And I ain't one of your friends. (Not that I wouldn't be, we just never met; just a fan.) Saw this Film this weekend at the New York International Independent Film Festival. Really good, creepy and fun.

Excellent reflection of modern self help groups with homage to Elmer Gantry. A funny look at the modern industry of self improvement from those funny guys we see on TV.

As so often is the case, a short, such as this one, can often shine more than a feature.

With a parody of EST that is beautifully created with a shoe-string budget, such a great screenplay and acting it's not too hard to make a bad movie. But this is not a bad movie. This is a story that people can relate to so well. Everyone has felt that insecurity of what they're doing. R.U.U. Puts this in perspective so it makes for a genius hilarious spin on instability on occupation and on EST. not only is it good as a short film, but it is also it is incredibly funny.

This story is about a motivator who stars to be programmed to say things that he doesn't mean, even though he really has no passion for what he does, but the audience does.

This is a very funny and well acted short film about the fictional motivational speaker, Duggie Sparks (Jeremy Harris). The film shows him in action during one of his countless seminars in front of a group of needy, lost people--the type that buy into the motivational speaker phenomenon. Harris is absolutely great in this role as he's able to do "the voice"--that oddly hypnotic and creepy voice. And, every time he talks he's saying meaningless platitudes--many of which are taken from old songs and many of which mean absolutely nothing. Yet, despite this, the crowd eats it up and see him as practically a god among men or latter-day prophet.

Most who see this will enjoy it immensely, though followers of similar motivational speakers will either be angry that this film denigrates their heroes OR are so stupid that they won't realize it's a put on and will go to the book store looking for those Duggie Sparks CDs (my assumption is that the latter is most likely)! The film has a very sharp and insightful wit and you can't help but laugh out loud. The folks who made this film are extremely talented.
