I had heard of this group originating from Athens, OH... actually Ohio University and this project. I went to their site and downloaded the film.

To really appreciate this project, you have to realize it was scripted, cast, edited, and scored in 48 hours. 48 HOURS! It was for a competition. They were given the following requirements: 1. a briefcase had be part of the story. 2. the line, "Where did I put the remote control" had to be a plot point. 3. their genre: music.

What they came up with was simply wonderful... amazing! Even the lyrical movement of the music reminded me of some of the songs Andrew Lloyd Webber composed early in his career.

Bottom line... they won the competition with DETONATE and I look forward to this team growing into the filmmakers it seems they will become.

It's hard to believe these filmmakers did this short in just two days. Incredible. To write, shoot, edit, score and not only that, but to have selected "musical" of all things in the 48 hr film competition. Even the graphics were well done.

I especially like the use of the camera. The jib shots were well done and motivated, not just thrown in there because, well, they had a jib to use. The songs were funny and memorable.

I've seen some of Par-T-Com's other work and it's equally as good. These guys (and girls) really know how to tell a story. Working on practically zero budgets, they make good films by being creative and resourceful. Young filmmakers could learn a lot from this team.

I hope you all continue to make movies. You rock!

These guys won this year's, 2005, 48 hour shootout and they deserved it if not from the piece then from the production alone. I was in the team that was supposed to be up against them, and they operated like a well oiled machine. If our team operated as fluidly as they did, then we might have had a chance to beat them. If those that had been up against them were actually a somebody, then the outcome would have been different. Feel lucky that I won't be there next year. I'm supposed to have 10 lines to post this, but we all know we're in the same place. Everyone look forward to these guy's work more often. It's good stuff. I look forward to hiring them when I need workers for my company.

I actually really liked this movie - it's up for MTVU's Best Film On Campus award. The musical scores were good; it looks professional; I thought it was pretty awesome. I don't know if the filmmakers know if their movie is up on IMDb.com - or if anybody knows them - they attend Ohio U, and I was curious as to whether John Atzberger and Swartz are the John Atzberger and John Swartz that attended Bishop Watterson in Columbus. If anybody knows that, I'd be very interested - I went to Watterson with them, and they were definitely talented, so it'd be cool to know they're taking that talent somewhere. (I can't get a good enough look at their faces in the movie to tell for sure if it's them or not.) Anyway ... good film!

Det-O-Nate rocks my socks! I really fell for the opening scenes where the bomb was being constructed in the dark room. Very convincing. The jib move on the Russian was unreal! Some very cool shot choices and lighting techniques helped to make this short come alive. Johnboy played a partial role to me. I see alot of myself in him. I really felt for the bomb-maker when he lost his remote-control. "Where did I put the remote...controooool?" GENIUS! The idea and concept for this musical masterpiece was innovative and very different. This short is one of the most uniquely humorous, yet well produced pieces I've ever seen. I cannot wait to see more from this Par-T-Com Productions crew. I can truly say that I was very impressed. Kudos!
