This is a debut feature from Nikola vukcevic, one of the best known Montenegrian director, and it's one kick-ass piece of work. Imagine a Balkan AmelyPulen+Tarantino+Aronofsky, but with even more wit and intelligence than the original one. The basic story line goes something like this: When Marijana was 16 – her father's boss sexually used her. Marijana's father did not do anything against his boss. After that, father became famous as discreet gynaecologist for illegal abortions. Ten years after, Marijana is prostituting with father's colleagues, harming his reputation (her father cares so much about). At one moment – Marijana meet sculptor, Vanja (poor and talented artist from the suburbs – that will open before her the world of love and trust). But, the world of Vanja and world of prostituting revenge – can not live at same moment! This film, with its characters and the plot, tells about hard Balkan times in which everything can be sold, about the disturbed system of values which characterizes everyday life in the Balkans; at the same time it tells about love that proves to be the only way out from the Balkan mud and wretchedness. Similar thing happened in Yugoslavia, where the people who seemingly lived well together turned to violence as soon as the communist grip was loose. In any case, I don't want to reveal any more twists and turns of this roller-coaster thriller, except that I also enjoyed the film's cool, ethnic-tinged soundtrack. I have no idea whether "Eiffel" found any distributors in the UK or States because I saw it at Toronto, some Balkan film festival, but I really wish it did because this movie is superior even by Western standards. Even though it's in Serbian+Croiatian+Montenegrian language, with the right promotion it would definitely appeal to a lot of people, for it is a REALLY-REALLY excellent work. Beg, borrow and steal to see this movie! It's that good.

This movie, its characters and the plot - in fact talking about a difficult time where everything is on sale, at the same time - talk about a love that is the only way for deliverance from the madness. Mariana's story is still very simple. Mariana does not enjoy the way in which she revenges to her father, and was even aware that the avenues to implement - not even good at it, but - this way (which I will reveal in this article) is only possible that it has remained. And because it is carried out regardless of price, regardless of the consequences. Yes, Mariana is a hostage to her bad decisions in the past. Therefore, a necessary Marianas monologue at the beginning of the film: "There are laws stronger than prescribed. Great knew this even when they were kids. " Mirror, watching the mirror... are constant motifs Vukcevic's filmic approach. View, which takes, as if searching. The time between an opening and closing my eyes. Looking at himself. All what was the one who looks in the mirror, he could be, he wanted to be. All possible untold stories, lived moments. Small parts, never assembled into a whole. The film script was patchy, accurate, authentic from a young man who was educated in the spirit of multumedial. What 'View from the Eiffel Tower' stories - some small emotional things that we can not forget. Besides the war during these ten years and we are loved, suffered, feared, parting is .... Just answer the questions - which I loved?, Who was driving the car?, With whom I hung out with people? ... will show me who I am? This is a film about this time, but the point is that this? because of the past, and those of us who are such as we are. And we could be different, and watch the Eiffel Tower. This film is a story of hope. The film, through questioning, talking about what we are today. Because the circle is closed - no one remembers, relive? In a finding that - what is extremely interesting in the film, is the manner in which the characters are placed, ie, that are caught in the moment when at its zenith, and that seemed to have time for their own development. The director says:? Leaving only a little space to tell a the past, show their catharsis and is already all over. It is difficult in such a structure to keep pace and make do, but it is also a great challenge., Is not it, but the tradition of a new visual way of thinking, inherited from the spots and the speed of lifestyle now.

What the film director saw from the Eiffel Tower? This is a view in which it connects the starry sky with the earth, vast city, endlessly illuminated some lights that seemed to come from a happy time, or - from the very concept of happiness, the light in which the sublimated overall, let's say, avant-garde art of the 20th life and everything that the light can simbolise.

I have never read "A GIRL FROM ZAGREB", novel that this film is in basic, but I can tell you that this is one of the best Balkan movies I have ever seen. Let me clear something up right away. Marija Vickovic is absolutely stunning and plays her role perfectly. Rudek has a nice, powerful role, he's awesome in this movie. Bane Trifunovic was hauntingly superb in this movie, you'll see what i mean.

The movie was breathtakingly shot (Nikola Sekeric). The cinematography was better then even the recent Balkan films. The movie gives you a feeling of awe and mystery because of it's settings. No cheesy lines; yes there are heartfelt beautiful lines, but none cheesy or over-emotional or over the top dialog. The writing and actors clicked perfectly. Need I say the story was both interesting and intriguing. It may be loosely based or not, but it was GREAT. The directing pulled everything together and added some nice tricks to make this movie a modern/classic (director Nikola Vukcevic). And the way music was used to intensify this movie (Vlado Moric) and when and where it was used was absolutely brilliant, and i suppose this is the director's and compositor's job, WELL DONE. The music was almost as important as the acting in this movie. The musical score for this movie is one of the best I have ever encountered (Moric, Sergey and Negative Band). It makes this movie move you. And just as good are the music (songs) the movie uses, how and when they are used. This is one of the few movies that thrives on sound (music) to help create it's mood, power and emotion and it is done masterfully.

This movie is beautiful on the eyes, ears, heart, and mind. I feel sorry for you if you don't ever get to experience this movie, it is a MUST see.

There are some aspects of this movie that I really liked: it is visually stunning, it is the first film ever that shows the urbane side of Montenegro and its capital, Marija Vickovic can sure hold the screen, also, 10/10 for bringing ex Yugoslavia together in making this film. However, that is about it. The rest was quite irritating for me: the story doesn't have any real flow or a grip on the viewers, acting is shocking, and ... I just had a feeling that the director was trying bit too hard to make Podgorica look "worldly". The language was also annoying, the actors should have made an effort to learn to speak in Montenegrin accent, even the Podgorica-born Vickovic speaks like she lived in Belgrade all her life. All in all, good effort for a first movie, however, plenty of room for improvement - 5/10.

This film, besides being a touching love story, sometimes stylized to poetry, and sometimes quite harsh, it is also our own view of the mirror. And in that sense, it is not surprising that this is one of only three films, which is a film festival in Motovun, under the direction of filmmaker Rajko Grlic classified in the 'new regional landscape', 'View from the Eiffel Tower' deals with the fate of sons / daughters where generations of their fathers in the inheritance left behind collapsed principles of chaos and destroyed the society. This film tells about a time when your sons / daughters to decide whether to correct errors or fathers to just go the other way. Brilliant role of actress Mary Vickovic, directed by Nikola Vukcevic and richness of visual allegory - told the story about growing up in Yugoslavia, to meet 21st Ages. It is about growing up, which carries a price, between vengeance and hope, love and passion, friendship and redemption. This motif, which is huge, layered, and demanding for cinematic achievement, which is why this film, style, way of telling stories and above all an allegory, and associativity, reveals the scope of the mature works, the authentic, the manuscript of a specific project worth attention, even though it is about a young filmmaker, which this is only the first feature motion picture.
