As the movie begins, Le Furet is watching TV over dinner with his family, showing on his Sony TV are scenes from two film noirs from 1949, Port of New York (Yul Bynner's first role) and a chase scene from Trapped with Lloyd Bridges.

Director Jean-Pierre Mocky was at first reluctant to work with Jacques Villeret because Villeret's doppelganger - double - told Mocky ten years earlier that Mocky was a lousy director. But the real Jacques Villeret came to Mocky during the early 2000's to tell him the truth.
