Molly Sims has joined the cast of Velveteen Films' indie drama Hickory Nation.

Written and directed by Velveteen's Rebecca Cook, the film revolves around a small Maine coastal community dealing with the aftermath of a mysterious hit-and-run accident. The event brings together a teacher and her two students, each struggling with secrets and lies.

Sims (Las Vegas) plays a teacher in the town who lost her daughter. Aimee Teegarden (Friday Night Lights) plays a local beauty queen who is one of her students.

The project, set to begin next summer, marks Velveteen's fourth feature for the indie production company, which hangs its shingle in both Boston and New York City. Since its formation in 1999, the company produced three films, The Gypsy Years in 2000; A Touch of Fate in 2003; and 2005's Shooting Livien.

Sims is repped by WMA and Untitled.

Ally Sheedy and Polly Draper have joined the cast of the Intrinsic Value and Velveteen Films' co-production Shooting Livien. The indie feature -- also starring Jason Behr, Sarah Wynter and Dominic Monaghan -- follows a disillusioned New York rocker in an identity crisis while on the brink of success. Along with Angel Devil Prods., Intrinsic Value is starting a second production today, The Woodcutter, a contemporary drama starring Danny Glover and Linda Hamilton. Woodcutter, which is shooting in Vancouver, marks the feature film directing debut of Gabrielle Savage Dockterman and is based on writer Ken Miller's experiences in the Vietnam War. Miller penned the script along with Savage Dockterman and Nancy L. Babine.

Jason Behr, Sarah Wynter, Dominic Monaghan and Joshua Leonard are teaming to star in the indie Shooting Livien for director Rebecca Cook, Velveteen Films and Intrinsic Value. Shooting on the project starts Saturday in New York. Livien tells the story of John Livien (Behr), a disillusioned New York rocker who is struggling with the authenticity of his identity and goals as his band is on the brink of success. Wynter is set to play a talent scout who discovers the band, with Monaghan and Leonard on board to star as Livien's bandmates.
