The film may have been a little sentimental, but not too much, and it includes Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole which sets the tone for the whole film. And seeing Jason Mamoa without his dreadlocks was worthy and dreamy (I love my Hawaiian men). I really did enjoy this Hallmark film, and the scenery made it worthwhile. Can you imagine, for the main character to find out that her mother was Hawaiian, and the land could be theirs. But this particular plot of the land feud was not resolve in the film by the time it was the ceremony for Lily. But ending it by her going back to her old life in Boston, is as real as you get, but what else could she do, split her family up to spend her romantic days with her Hawaiian hunk? and i suppose, Hawaii is a paradise, for a moment, and that's all. it would be nice if we all packed off to Hawaii to live with our Hawaiian hunks, if that were so, Hawaii would be the awful tourist trap of middle aged women you would see in some of the Spanish resorts today. Then, end of paradise.
There are several beautiful things about this movie. The beautiful scenery of Hawaii or Maui, whatever, and the looks of Jason Mamoa. Both worth watching. Mamoa is fetching in his scenes without his shirt, running along the beach. Quite a fantasy. Or in the deep blue waters of the cave. However not too much else happens in this older married woman and younger lover theme. Virginia Madsen, that Sharon Stone wannabe, is just awful, in this. No chemistry, not even sexual for the young man. In fact their love scenes fell flat. Too controlled. Lainie Kazan doesn't sing a note in this. Too bad. She's a super singer lady and plays a grandmother on the island. For a Jewish mama she seemed to play the role all right. But, I'd rather hear Lainie sing a torch song. However, there is the beauty and distinguished Vietnamese actress Kieu Chinh in the film. She brings simplicity and class to this picture. So 3 stars for Hawaii, Kieu and Mamoa.
This movie is quite good for spending an evening with it. Actually I caught it on Hallmark channel, so it means it' supposed to be made for the whole family. So the main lack of the movie is the ending, completely unreal. Probably it was dictated by that obvious rule - tell the moral at the end and praise the family values. What we got? Woman, that is every day tortured by the daughter, who complains that mom doesn't understand her, husband, that drawn in the routine of life and turned his family life into deadly boring thing. And when she met gorgeous guy who fall in love with her, what does she do after? Yeah according to these stupid family movies' rules - return to her family - back to her home hell. I mean she had chance to escape everything that burdened her in life before she came to Hawaii. This decision seems to me unreal. The end of "Tempted" is like banishing from Paradise. The heroine doesn't look like she's making the step to new or at least refreshed life. She's bravely returning to her family, but it does look like if she's making a DEED - not a joy or happiness. The views of Hawaii - beautiful nature and Jason Momoa will be a bonus:))while watching.
This movie kept my attention, There are a lot of Jason Momoa fans out there, I'm not one of them and I'm not familiar with this work, but I can see why the ladies love him so much. I am a fan of Virginia Madsen and her brother Michael, it is nice to see her in a semi romantic part, she had the worst husband and children on the planet! Ungrateful, useless and whiny. No way I would have stayed with the husband she had, he couldn't even let her enjoy her time in Hawaii without him flying himself and the kids out there! And before that calling her to handle mess he should have been dealing with as a father. Leave her be, give her her time and let her come home in peace , not take that garbage there. I would have definitely chosen the handsome guy on the island to stay with. Her husband only confessed his love for her when she admitted she almost, almost fell for someone else who made her feel loved and alive. She deserved better! She was a lot more loyal to her family then they were to her. I would have never left a man behind on that island that loved me as much as kalai loved her.!
Jason Momoa is an ABSOLUTE GOD!!!!! His presence dominated the entire movie...I kept staring at him throughout the entire show...I didn't know they made men like him!!! (YUMMY!) I thought the movie was beautifully played, excellent location. I thought Emma was a bit too old for him though, and the fact that Jason looked too young to have a fifteen year old son! that threw me a bit. I didn't feel the chemistry between them...but HELLO!!! if I had to leave a home where I felt unappreciated to go to a tropical paradise and met Jason..I would be on him in seconds!! he is just so absolutely perfect. Even though Emma's role was uncertain at times just having Jason's presence in the movie made everything worth watching again...and again...and again...

- Erros de gravaçãoWhen Kala takes Emma to see the family altar, he rests his right hand on the altar and reaches to put down the flowers he's holding in his left hand. There's a closeup of his hand placing the flowers down, and they're suddenly in his right hand.
