Completely recommended for those who seek good television.
Enjoyed every minute. Natural understated acting. You may know the end when it starts, but it sure makes for a very pleasant evening's watching.
We need more like this.
Thank you, HALLMARK!

Well i loved Kathryn in Roswell and when i seen this movie advertised i knew I'd have to watch it. I tuned in and boy was I surprised. I recognized many of the faces in this movie. The acting was good and the story was much better than i thought it would be! The little girl was so adorable and I've watched many of the movies she was in as well. I would have loved more 'lovey dovey' interaction between the two leads but it was still a good movie. 8/10

I watched this movie for several reasons: Michael Landon,Jr.'s involvement (as I suspected, he learned well from his father); I love Westerns (and romances); and I'm a fan of Dale Midkiff's and consider him talented and hugely underrated. I love to examine an actor's portrayal of a role. The way Midkiff used his voice(tone and inflection) to display Clark Davis' kindness, gentleness, and honor was perfection. Talk about nailing a role! (He's just as believable as the rascally womanizer,Buck, on "The Magnificent Seven.") I hope to see a sequel (or several) to this appealing movie.
The film is a good one as it deals with a new theme in a very serious way. The theme being that people, who have lost their mates, marry at once, to provide for surviving children and to ease their loneliness.
We saw such sociological occurrences after the Holocaust when lonely survivors in displacement camps wed within 30 days of meeting one another.
This film is a salute to the men and women of the 1880s in the west. Through hard work and relentless courage, they were able to survive the vicissitudes of nature.
No, this film is not Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman but it's an earnest attempt to bring the struggles of the period down to a very personal level.
While stunned by the tragic loss of her young husband, I found Katherine Heigl's performance here to be lacking. She needed more of a breakout in her role as the film went on. Only during the last 2 frames do we see a remote resemblance of that. Throughout the film, she seems to be just saying her lines without evoking any emotion whatsoever.
Midkiff is better here; although, there are some parts where I thought he was trying another form of Elmer Gantry.
As a whole, the film should be praised to its undertaking of difficult subject matter.

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie since I have read the book...twice! I love Janette Oke novels! The "Love Comes Softly" novel is part of a series, so you can continue on with Missie's life, etc.
Sometimes a movie just doesn't do justice to the book, but this one does!!! I was not disappointed at all! The heartbreak and grief that losing a loved one brings is revealed very well in this film. Best of all, the film shows how sometimes a marriage of convenience or out of necessity can be a real blessing. It teaches all of us who live in this day and age that love does not always start off with bursting fireworks or burning passion. As the film portrays...sometimes love just comes softly. :)
To the actors Dale Midkiff, Katherine Heigl, Skye McCole Bartusiak and to Director/Producer Michael Landon, Jr... Great job!!! 10/10

- CuriosidadesKatherine Heigl had to learn how to milk a cow for her role as Marty Claridge.
- Erros de gravaçãoIn one scene, Clark mentions "finding something in the icebox". Although the icebox was invented in 1840, it would not have been used by pioneers like them. The icebox relied on a regular delivery of ice to function. The iceman did not cometh.
