This movie is the most romantic & heart-touching masterpiece of the 80s and perhaps only one of its kind in the history of Hindi Cinema. It has tried to reflect the essence of love in a true sense. Love means sacrifice, it is pure and immortal and has nothing to do with the physical attraction. Physical attraction is just an illusion of lust which fades with the passage of time but the true love is like a trace of light illuminating for centuries. Love is a feeling that can only be sensed by soul. Love is not a business which can be traded for anything else. The artists here have done full justice to the plot. Really the potentials of Anita Raj have been underestimated. She is one among the elite of Bollywood Actresses.

This is a Hindi language film starring Raj Babbar and Anita Raj. It was a breakthrough debut for Anita Raj who had a strong role in the movie. Raj Babbar's charisma and talent carries him through too.

The movie story is a bit too melodramatic in the end but the strong starcast ensure that the performances are not over the top, except for Janaki who feels irritating. Especially likeable is the legendary Madan Puri's role. Rajni Sharma is also most beautiful and impressive.

The initial caricature of Raj Babbar being a shayar has no role to play in the rest of the film revealing the holes in the script. Likewise the far fetched melodrama and ending cause the film to be not considered a great one, but ensured its acceptance among couples and family audiences and hence a hit.

The standout is the song "Hothon se Choo Lo Tum" composed and sung by Jagjit Singh is what keeps the film etched in memory even decades later.
