Jungfrau am Abgrund

I can describe this film in just two words, 'Utter Crap' but since IMDb requires at least ten lines, I shall oblige.

This film is a wicked hallucinations of gore and bizarre sexual acts, supposedly to show the nightmares of women having menstrual pain. Oh come on, how lame!

I mean, a film so untrue, filled with disgusting acts, is called menstrual nightmares ? Where did the producer even get the idea from ? It's just so easy to make a half-baked film, filled it with stupid non-sequential plots, and topped it with a bucket full of annoying music, and called it a work of art, of magic ? Oh, come on !

It was a load of trash, not deserving of any recognition.

By far the most bizarre film I ever watched, and the most disgusting.

The summary could be enough to describe this film! MONDO WEIRDO: A TRIP TO PARANOIA PARADISE (the international title of Jungfrau Am Abgrund) is one of the greatest movies of all times! Of course we're not talking of conventional cinema...this is pure madness, a sick perverted hallucinating nightmare! It keeps you glued to the screen, from the first second to the last one!!! Non-stop breaking madness underlined, no, glorified by a soundtrack that alone could be one of the TOP experimental/new-wave records of the 80s, if only it had come out as a record! This movie has got it all: horror, grotesque, surrealism, expressionism, sick hardcore sex (straight, homo and lesbo), grand-guignol, insanity! All put together with such a brilliant taste...of course a sick taste...but so powerful, inventive, fresh, bursting...it's similar to the early works of people like Richard Kern and Nick Zedd (NY Underground cinema), but WAY more intense and breathtaking! I watched it the first time in 1992. It went straight to my cortex, it kinda possessed me for days, months, its images kept on floating in my mind, along with that incredible music! I watched it countless times, and it never gets boring...it's like listening to a great record...the more you know it the more you enjoy it when you put it on!!! ...few films can have this quality, let me tell you!!! This is no doubt Andersen's masterpiece...and even if no other will follow, I think he should deserve a first place in the history of sick movie-making! This movie is now in my DNA!

Andersen was not known for his storytelling and unfortunately Jungfrau am Abhrund is no exception. The mondo theme of a 15 year old who sees a traumatic event (lesbian encounter in a small club - no I'm not joking, it is really the traumatic event) which leads to a mental breakdown and Her having violent sexual hallucinations. I told you the storyline is thin. In Anderson's defence, he did attempt to artistically connect the various hallucinations and even to depict a degree of progression. Examples are the use of hands, as well as the use of spaces. The Modell D'oo soundtrack (yes the same duo he featured on Vampirism Sexos) and crude editing worked well. These are the only aspect which makes the film worth a review. For the rest it's pretty much just sex and gore set pieces filmed on 16mm black and white. Something which worked a lot better in eg Man Bites Dog (but then again, there was also a story to it and very clever dialogue).

At times like these you appreciate the great little fast- forward button on your remote. It got a lot of use watching this pile of horse poo.

Mondo Weirdo (they probably thought putting "mondo" in the title gave the film some shock value) is a black and white film about some woman having a period in her shower and having visions of bloody sexual shenanigans as a result. Nope, it made no sense to me either, and it looked like they filmed it all on a camera phone made ten years ago. Most of the characters are pretty ugly, and are styled as if they've timewarped from the 1960s. There's also some really dreadful music attached which is like the worst 1980s indie band you've ever heard.

The film has few redeeming qualities, it does contain a few hardcore porn scenes however if that's anything to rock your boat, but even these are pretty rubbish. I really don't know what the point of it all was but probably some students thought it was quite radical, and stuff. Anyway, someone's penis gets lopped off at the end, that was likely the best part (well someones best part) but really you should avoid this tripe at all costs. I've had more shocks looking at the balance in my bank account.

Why do people exist to think such story, Why do people Exist to work for such kind of film, Why do people pass such kind of film for view.

Why do people exist having faith to spend money in making such kind of film.
