Gone are the days when Rajini could afford to make such unusual and sober films like this one. Shorn of the gimmicks associated with most of his films, this one's quite a watchable movie with a tragic element. Great songs by Ilayaraja.

Brilliant acting by Jyothi, simply top notch. Ilayaraja's scores and background music are second to none. VIsu's dialogues are solid. Of course, this movie showed another dimension of Rajini's acting skills, too bad he does not do more like this. While the first half is breezy with love scenes, second half tugs your heart and the climax scene simply sticks in your mind. A must watch.
