In 2018, Bruce Pritchard, would recall on his podcast that he shot the 30 second opening scene with Lex Luger and his family wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. The segment was filmed at Luger's home in suburban Atlanta, Georgia the day before the pay per view and took almost five hours to shoot. Atlanta had experienced a heat wave that day, with temperature around 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius) with sunny and clear skies. Despite the weather they had to get a fire burning in the fireplace to add atmosphere. To make matters worse Pritchard recalled that they had to turn off the air conditioning in the house so it would not be heard in the background. This is while the family was wearing holiday sweaters during the shoot. Pritchard said everyone was dripping with sweat when the shoot was over.
According to producer Bruce Prichard, Terry Funk was originally scheduled to be the Red Knight under a mask for the match against the Hart family. The plan would be that Bret Hart would put Funk in the Sharpshooter, make him submit, and unmask him. However, the night before the event, Funk went out drinking all night with Bret, before giving an excuse that he had to fly back home because his horse was ill. Funk was replaced by Barry Horowitz.
Shawn Michaels replaced Jerry Lawler, who had been advertised as being part of the family feud against the Hart Brothers, but had to be pulled due to being charged with rape towards a teenage girl (who later admitted to making up the story).
Randy Savage replaced Mr. Perfect on Razor Ramon's team, who had suffered a back injury.
"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka and Glen Jacobs were originally considered to play the Black and Blue Knights.
