    What happened to this series?

Faces of Gore 1 was a remake of sort of Faces of Death, while that movie is considered a parody, it's still half serious when talking about the cases. Here, in Faces of Gore 2 they made this into a complete comedy.

Our narrator, sounds so out of place, he is making like a horrorish voice, and it just breaks the movie. I can only guess that they wanted it to sound like this, because parody right? However, the jokes are not funny at all because for Christ sake, we are dealing with a Mondo film. The first film made tiny bits of jokes, i found it pointless there, here it's 20 times worse.

They joke about calling the victims: Monsters, freaks, derogatory words for women, and how the victims might get abused even when they are dead, and there was a joke how a man's foot, is on the menu like a KFC chicken. No i am not joking and none of that is funny. I understand extreme jokes, offensive jokes, however it's completely different when you make jokes, while footage of actual victims plays...

However, the footage, just like any other Mondo film out there, it's graphic, and what you expect. Death. I can say that the third segment of this movie is really disgusting, and sickening to listen to. Also, it would of helped if we had subtitles, because both the narrator and the doctor Van Gogh Gore, yell, and do not speak slowly, so it's really hard to understand what the two are saying.

Anyway, i think you should stay with TRACES of DEATH and FACES of DEATH.

    Hard to sit through.

This 'shockumentary' is really truly bad. Not bad in the way I expected, but a horribly made feature. The gore footage was tame, and I had trouble sitting through the whole thing due to the god-awful hammy unnecessary narration and Tom and Jerry style sound effects. If I wanted a cartoon burp while watching a corpse being pulled out of the water, while listening to some guy in his echoey bedroom narrate in a cartoon mad scientist voice, I wouldn't even be watching this kind of thing in the first place.

After about 10 minutes, I muted the damn sound and watched the mediocre footage, the narration and dubbed on cartoon sounds were just too damn annoying. After all the hype about how shocking this sub-genre of shockumentary is supposed to be, I was highly disappointed, websites like Rotten Dot Com provide more shocking scenes and cut back on the bollocks and give you the interesting stuff, minus the bastardised dubbed soundtrack. Avoid this at all costs.

    More of the Same

Nothing special here, after a few viewings it loses it attraction. Only get if you have some weak-stomached friends you'd like to horrify. The narrator is amusing, and some of the footage is worth a rewind or two, but it only appeals to die hard Real Death fans.

    Old Dog, Dead Tricks

There isn't too much to say about this that hasn't been said or commented on in the past. This is much akin to other shockumentaries before it; such as Faces of Death and Traces of Death. In my eyes, the only thing that separates it from its more graphic forefathers is the authenticity and the acting.

In terms of validity, it seems to hold up to its claims of being 100% real. Despite some of the scenes being very low-res, it can be pretty hard to watch at times.

As far as acting goes, our host (Dr. Vincent Van Gore) feels like to love child of Dr. Francis B. Gross and Dr. Louis Flellis from the Faces of Death series; which doesn't say too much about the poor acting. Our narrator (Todd Tjersland) is less entertaining as those before him, and is more lowbrow and cold when it comes to talking about the dead--so if you're a person who believes in the importance of respecting the dead, you probably won't enjoy his shade of humor all that much.

If you're that shockumentary thrill seeker who wants to claim to have seen it all, then by all means, check it out. If you're hoping to find the "next most disturbing thing" from this, then you more than likely won't find it here--from the aforementioned bad acting, the narrator, and the general editing style.

Finally a sequel that's even better than the original!

I saw the first FACES OF GORE video last year and thought it was the sickest shockumentary film ever. When I heard they were making a sequel, I thought "Man! There's no way they can top Part 1." Happily, I just watched FACES OF GORE 2 and was proven DEAD WRONG! Part 2 is even SICKER, NASTIER and more SHOCKING than the original, and that means DO NOT WATCH this movie if you are faint of heart because it will make you puke within the first ten minutes! Seriously, I can't show this movie to anybody it's so disgusting (but with a hilariously twisted sense of humor with the narrator making fun of the dead people!). Finally, somebody has made a sequel that is even cooler than the original, so I can't wait for FACES OF GORE 3 and THE BEST OF FACES OF GORE, which are supposed to be coming out on video later this year. I hope they make a bunch more in this series because I will buy them all--no fake or boring stuff on these tapes; it's all totally real (and real gory!). If you like REAL DEATH videos, nothing beats the FACES OF GORE series!!!
