All the comments have been so right! The show is awesome! Funny, mysterious, absorbing! You do not need to understand the dubbed Spanish of this Brazilian soap to appreciate the actions of the characters. Much old and new talent blend together to keep you coming back to next episodes for more! Though Claudio Heinrich, Humberto Martins, and Lima Duarte steal the show, all of the actors shine through becoming special and beloved! Take a break, sit through an episode or two, and you'll become a fan too!
Uga Uga is a funny spiced mix with a bit of "Tarzan", "Runaway Bride", "The Fugitive", "The Fight Club", "Mr. Magoo" and a lot of movies or series I can't recall. Besides an incredible (and sometimes absurd) story, this soap opera shows different aspects of the Brazilian society, including real amazonic indians, amazing landscapes and great actors with convincing performances. If you want to see romance, action, comedy, thriller and drama together, surely you should see this soap opera.
I saw this soap opera twice, the first time it was aired and then the rerun, I could see it again, it was just that funny! First I loved the cast and the characters, then the story, then I cried, then I laughed, I almost went crazy... trying to figure it out when the behavior of some people just didn't make sense, but for the story's sake, some things needed not to have a full explanation... It was fun, though. I love soap operas with a huge amount of characters, they will keep the story always fresh, the only problem is, when you see it dubbed, you get so used to this people's voices that when you see the same actors again in a different soap, with different voice overs, you feel kinda weird...
"Uga Uga" is a blast of fun! It is High Camp at its best, and you don't need to know Portuguese or Spanish to appreciate the humor (all the (literally) half-naked men!). I have fun just trying to figure out why the characters are doing what they're doing. Why is the pretty girl dressed in a wedding gown, running after the cute guy in the glasses? Why is the Scientist running around with very little clothes on, and why does he appear to be psychic? All this and much more await you in "Uga Uga". Don't miss it!
The show premiered two weeks ago in the U.S., dubbed in Spanish, and I must say, it really blow me away. The characters are real, yet some act incompetent (e.g. Rolando). However, "Uga Uga" is very funny and original with a good storyline, good writing, and the best actors ever to fit the character roles. Since its airing, I, as well as many others, have tuned in every night to see what happens to our loved characters, and with each episode, the story gets more exciting. So it's common for everyone to tune in and watch. It's so popular that "Telemundo", my fave Spanish news network, talks about the show almost every night. For example, what we fanatics think of it. "Uga Uga" gained a lot of viewers and many like it so much that some are willing to dress up like Tatuapu (the main character), with the whole loin cloth thing and wearing a blond wig. Believe me, it's a great show to watch. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a show with humor, wit, and something out of the ordinary. In comparison to American soap operas, "Uga Uga" isn't your average, every day one. It's a show worth seeing, and someday, it can be considered one of the classics, like "Xica". So, if you want a soap opera that's realistic, yet hilarious, I recommend you watch this one. It'll make you laugh all the way to the end.
