Invincible War in the comics saw a lot of Image characters that share the same universe come to the forefront of the comic to fight the various Invincible alternates that had invaded Earth thanks to Angstrom Levy. These characters were some of the biggest names in comics, but there were two in particular who could have been a lot of fun to see in the show, but couldn’t show up because of a rights issues.

One of the best superheroes shows going on right now is Invincible. The animated Prime Video series is based on Robert Kirkman’s Image Comics series, focusing on Mark Grayson, the son of Omni-Man, the world’s greatest hero. When he comes into his own superpowers, Mark is happy to follow in his dad’s footsteps.
That joy ends when Mark discovers his father’s dark secret: he was paving the way for an alien conquest of Earth. After a brutal fight with his dad, Mark tries to be a hero while handling the usual teenage angst.
The show nails the comic’s tone in shifting from typical superhero adventures to some shockingly dark and violent moments to surprisingly grounded family drama. There are a lot of comics about teen heroes, yet few as crazy as Invincible. If you’re a fan of the show, these 15 comics may be just...

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman took inspiration from 1990s comics like Savage Dragon, and other Image Comics titles; the books he read as a young comic book reader later helped inform the way he would using disruptive storytelling and extreme content in his epic zombie series. Kirkman's influences also include classic horror titles like I Am Legend, particularly the warly '90s comic book adaptation, and indie comics like Minimum Wage and Morning Glories. The themes of survival and overcoming adversity in various hostile environments are central to Robert Kirkman's work; each of the examples he has cited for influencing Walking Dead exhibit that same quality in some way or another.
The Walking Dead author Robert Kirkman has been open about the influences that went into his work on the acclaimed series. Notably, he has been vocal about the influence of 1990s comics, particularly the early Image Comics titles,...

Savage Dragon is an underrated series with wide recognition and a lasting impact on the comic book community. The series features a cohesive storyline that spans decades and includes exciting story arcs and cameos from other iconic characters. Savage Dragon has had memorable crossovers with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spawn, The Maxx, and even Superman, proving its status as an A-list series.
Image Comics’ Savage Dragon is a series that is woefully underrated, yet still widely recognized. Even people who have never picked up an issue will find the titular Dragon recognizable. Whether fans were exposed to the character through his action figures or the short-lived ‘90s animated series, the fact that most comic fans know Savage Dragon only speaks to the wider impact the series had on the comic book community as a whole, especially in the collective Image Comics catalog.

A new Savage Dragon animated series could continue Amazon Prime Video's adult superhero content success. Savage Dragon is a very important series due to it being a founding book at Image Comics. Savage Dragon can continue the thematic success of Invincible while also possibly crossing over with it.
Amazon Prime Video has become the home for "alternative" superhero content. There are more "low-key" features such as the remake of The Tick and Samaritan, but the adaptations of The Boys and Robert Kirkman's Invincible have been very successful. The latter in particular shows that there's an audience for mature-rated animated superhero shows, which is a niche that another Image Comics adaptation can find similar success in.
Savage Dragon was one of the first books published by Image Comics, and it's been running ever since the company was founded. Satirizing elements of the superhero genre, the book revels in excess and its more adult nature.

The comic strip Peanuts, featuring an iconic cast of characters led by Charlie Brown, was written and drawn by Charles Schulz for nearly 50 years, and according to Robert Thompson, a professor of pop culture at Syracuse University, that makes it the longest story ever told by a single individual.
During an episode of PBS' NewsHour that aired after the passing of Peanuts creator, Charles Schulz, Professor Thompson argues that Peanuts is "arguably the longest story told by a single artist in human history." In the PBS special, entitled "So Long, Charlie Brown," he gives examples ranging from Wagner's operas to Leo Tolstoy's novels of works not as lengthy as the totality of Charlie Brown comics.

I remember how excited I was when the first Image Comics hit the stores in the early nineties. There were rumours flying about recklessly of movie adaptations and TV shows in the works and I could not wait to see my brand new favourites immortalised on screen! Alas, it all fell apart when the Speculator’s Boom busted.
But now, after the huge success of AMC’s TV version of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead, I have seen a window of opportunity where my teen-hood fantasies can finally come true. So here are the classic Image Comics titles that I think should be the next super TV series (All of you big movie studios types need to take note!).

Disney's acquisition of Marvel Entertainment turns 1 day old today, and the Twitter Report feed has jubilant humor from Rick Remender and Brian Michael Bendis, celebratory fact-sharing from C.B. Cebulski and a dash of skepticism from Image Comics co-founder Erik Larsen, who wonders if Marvel artists will still be allowed to sketch their heroes at conventions.
Elsewhere, "Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane shared some more new artwork via his Twitter account.
Check out a link to that below, along with all manner of creator commentary and a shocking moment of self-awareness from Dan Slott. It's in the Twitter Report for September 1, 2009.
