***** out of ***** stars: Simply put, my favorite Mega Man game.

    Comments:

This was my first mega man game ever. This game was an excellent one. Sure the sound may not seem like a big deal but its not bad. The graphics are very nicely done. The robot master designs were also very nice. And while the story may not be all that big of a deal by itself it is excellent compared to the other ones. But the best thing about it is the music. Sure the stage music & such may seem regular but. My favorite music themes in this game are the intro theme & the protoman theme. GOD I LOVED THE INTRO THEME! It was the most beautiful theme I have ever heard in a Mega man game. And for extra measure it was one of the best things in sci-fi related symphonic music since Vince DiCola's work in Transformers the movie. (I wonder why they never did any Transformers games back then?) And I consider it as one of the best NES themes around. I do quite like the Protoman theme. It is very much playable and as for the challenge well it is no big deal but some parts in the game may seem frustrating while it is nothing that a Game genie can't fix. So to be honest I consider this to be my favorite Mega man game ever.

    Awesome!

I'm a hardcore fan of the old Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), and I must admit, that this is probably one of the best titles that the system has to offer. For its time, the game had good animation and detailed sound effects and music. Gameplay was always moving and a great joy to play. If anyone has an NES and wants a good challenge, pick up Mega Man III from Capcom at your local used game retailer or on the web.

"one of the best megaman games"... or maybe not

I finished it today and it was a lot of fun, for sure. Megaman 3 is almost what you'd expected of a sequel of Megaman 2 (my favourite of the franchise and I didn't even write a review for it cause would be just ovation). Also, the final battles were enjoyable and the conclusion with the Dr. Willy battle was truly surprising (spoiler: my mind exploded!!!)

Anyway, I'll start saying the best points for me, and later I'll say the negative/bad points.

First, the sliding movement is a huge improvement to the gameplay. It adds dynamism and fun to every battle. The inclusion of Rush is also a great touch, even though I mainly used the Jet and Jump Dog forms.

The robomans have more cool designs and they have a variety of combat. Protoman is a nice surprise, but fighting with him is kinda boring since he have few movements (also, when I fought the misteryous crash man the game just crashed. Was this one of his powers too?) The music sure is good; my favorites are the top and spark man theme, willy fortress 2 and the (goat) proto man theme. But, c'mon, megaman OST isn't just good, IT'S ONE OF THE BEST AMONG 8-BITS GAMES SONGS! Megaman 3 didn't have any standout songs for me, and perhaps my expectations were too big due to the amazing music in Megaman 2.

The aliens and other planets in the plot is interesting, but the story is almost pointless since it doesn't feel that the game is even telling one. The lack of a intro don't helps too.

Now, let's discuss what I didn't like: rush marine form is almost useless. I don't recall using it for the most part of the gameplay. Jet form was my go-to for most parts since it makes the stages a piece of cake. But my BIGGEST disappointment with megaman 3 lies in the weapons, like, I really don't think hard knuckle and gemini laser have other good use than defeating the bosses. Others like the top and snakes are difficult to use, and the rest are just plain boring. I really hope megaman 3 is the only game in the series with lackluster weapons.

In conclusion, megaman III introduces some cool mechanics, with some fails though. I'm not a big fan of the "megaman" formula, so my experience with this game is similar to the others: megaman is a fun game to play for hours, get frustraded, play more hours until you beat the whole thing. Get it?

Blue Bomber makes a third bang

This game is my third favorite in the series (yeah once again ironic) and another one of my favorite video games of all time. The series truly was at it's peak at this point as it was one that just seemed to get better the further it went. Not a whole lot to say as it's all pretty much the same format and gameplay which I'm fine with as an old saying goes if it's not broke don't fix it. But there is an added refinement which adds a little more to the experience which also goes with another old saying, "it's a whole new ball game".

I like the new robot masters and the levels which are each unique and go well with each of the elements they control. Really like the Gemini Man level which is cool and interesting looking as it has some bright dark colors and really has a sort of organic and cosmic vibe to it. The other is the Snake Man stage, which is all green and scaly, it really makes you feel like you are inside of a snake. Even like some of the obstacle robots that come your way, like a giant robot cat that spits out deadly balls of steel string, a giant robot snake head that fires big laser bullets. And a mini boss in a level or two Photon Man who has a shield that fires out laser bullets, he constantly jumps, and, he gives out a signature whistle which lets you know he's coming.

The new robot masters are all uniquely designed, memorable and formidable foes, one favorite of mine is Shadow Man whom I think is cool as he's pretty much a ninja and I love ninjas. His power is also cool as he throws out oversized shuriken's, it's true it's kind of like Metal Man's power in "Mega Man 2" as there are powerful but their cool all the same as they are shuriken after all. Another is Spark Man who is also cool, really like the design as the guy is pretty much a walking power plant, and he produces sparks from his electric head and diodes. The music is awesome as usual this game has plenty of memorable tracks which makes it almost hard to choose, there are some favorites are the Gemini Man, Spark Man, Snake Man and Shadow Man stage all of them I thought were really cool tracks and fit the levels well.

One thing that really makes the game unique is you have the use of a robot dog called Rush, whom truly is your best friend. This dog really provides what you need depending on what the situation demands. He acts as a jack for certain areas that are too high to make a successful jump. The dog is also a transformer as he can turn into a submarine and my favorite a hover board. However, like any of the items/weapons you require, Rush does have gauges for his abilities, so you must make sure you keep them full. You also have a slide function which I thought was cool and very useful for going under certain areas but also another way to dodge attacks that come your way.

And of course, as usual with any Mega Man game it's hard. Yeah, I remember how much practice it too me to remotely get though certain sections of the game, let alone the boss, and figuring out how the heck to beat them. But to me that's part of the joy of the series, keeping at it until you get it all right; the stages and even the robot master battles really aren't hard by their nature they just seem that way at first. But once you figure out all the trick, traps and weaknesses of the bosses then you could get though this game with ease (or as much ease as possible).

The Blue Bomber strikes for the third time and hasn't lost yet at this point.

The game that got me started.

From the moment i first played it i was hooked, and now 10 years later i am a videogame addict, and this game started it all for me. it had it all characters, graphics, and you just had to love that dog. Rush is to this day the greatest videogame dog to ever live.
