Although there is plot and I did finish it, it's still a bad movie. It's not even so bad it's good territory. No Holds Barred is the one you should have watched instead! This would be Hulk's 9th movie as a leading actor. You'd think he would have improved a bit but nope! Nothing original happens in this, you name the movie cliche it happens. The casting kind of works but the fact there are "IRA" members without thick Irish accents kind of removes some immersion. Hulk's sidekick reminds me of the movie Steven Seagal did called "Code Of Honor" in 2016 with Craig Sheffer.
The only highlight to this movie is where it becomes Rambo 1 where John Rambo is in the woods and a scene involving a motorcycle and a land mine of some sort.
Is this the worst movie a famous wrestler or fighter is in? No, that so far goes to a movie Tito Ortiz did called "Operation Black Ops" from 2023.
Hulk's hair style in this is atrocious. I understand he's some sort of soldier. I honestly didn't watch it enough to care and this is why he didn't have his signature bright colored bandana and skullet but the whole time I was in awe like the movies Jason Statham has where the makeup department put hair on his head.
This is one of those movies you could have on in the background and only take the odd glance or two at it and you'll do fine. This isn't a story of redemption, Hulk doesn't get captured or anything to give his character a third dimension. Nothing. You might as well watch a movie with The Rock or real actors like Steven Seagal or a newer JCVD movie instead.

This is honestly a really good action movie. It is one of Hogan's best movies by far. It's good action in the same style as most good 80s or 90s action movies. It's obviously a B movie it doesn't have a lot of the production and what not as Schwarzenegger or Stallone or Van Damme movies do. But for what it is, it's actually really good, I really enjoy it. Hogan made some stinkers back in the day, this movie isn't one of them. Obviously movies like suburban commando, and no holds, barred or his best movies, but this movie along with the thunder in Paradise movies and the assault on devils island movies are his best work. This is vastly underrated and flies under the radar when talking about most action movies. But give it a watch with an open mind and I bet you'll enjoy it. Seriously, it's Hogan at his best. Great plot, great acting, pretty well put together and some great action scenes. It's just a fun movie, it's nothing too serious, it's nothing that you have to Spend time and energy trying to figure out. It's just a fun and easy movie to watch.
This movie is utter and total crap. Flashy catch phrases try to make up for the poor acting and bad writing. The henchmen of the main baddie can shoot, but one of them walk up to Cutter's friend that they think is dead to get a shot by his shotgun. If I had a good five seconds and I was a bad guy I would have shot right away rather then checking if the guy was dead. The added "Man I am good" from Cutters friend made me laugh so sadistically with sarcasm that I couldn't control my utter outrage of funding for this piece of dung. Sitting threw the last scene of the movie when the main baddie's friend comes back in a cop car to run over Cutter and is diverted into the barn where the main bad guy is standing on a bomb made the movie totally believable. And if you believe my last line.... you sure are gullible!

No, this isn't a very artistic movie. Yes, you've seen the story before. No, the actors aren't especially good. But yes. There is action. This is a good action movie. Just like they was made in the eighties. Big guns, explosions, ex C.I.A agents taking out entire armies on their own and non-stop action. If you want the kind of action you remember from the good old Arnold movies you have just found it here. Hulk Hogan is awesome and he really fills a role that could be played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. This is probably the last of the good "one man must fight an entire army to get to the bad guy and save his country/daughter" movies. A perfect movies for a boys night with beer and chips
Well this 1998 action movie starring none other than Hulk Hogan himself is pretty much standard late 1990s action cheese.
Sure, as I sat down to watch "The Ultimate Weapon" here in 2021, I can't really claim that my expectations were super high for the movie. But still, I opted to sit down and watch it and give it a chance.
Turns out that writer Robert Paul and director Jon Cassar actually managed to put together an action movie that was adequate enough. I mean, it did follow that stereotypical how-to-make-an-action movie that was going on with most action movies back in the 1990s. So at least the movie had that going on. So there is some nostalgia to be experience here, cheesy as it was.
Then there was the part about Hulk Hogan in the lead. Yeah, that part wasn't really a winning bet. I mean, sure he was good on the screen back in the 1980s when I was watching WWF on TV. But as a movie star and an actor? No, that wasn't really his strong side. But you just bear over with it as he stumbles through the movie.
And to make things even better. You would assume that a physical man such as Hulk Hogan would be doing his own action scenes and such. But no. There was a stunt double to do this for him. And they didn't even bother to get one that remotely looked like him. In all scenes with the stunt double, you just curl your toes as it is so blatantly obvious that it is not Hulk Hogan himself doing it. I mean, even running up hill on an obstacle course they uses a stunt double. Boy, oh boy. And I was cracked up when they used a stunt double that had a mullet. Yeah, a mullet. It didn't even match Hulk Hogans hair in the movie at all.
There is actually a fair amount of action in the movie. Adequate action actually, not great action mind you. So director Jon Cassar managed to pull that off well enough.
"The Ultimate Weapon" is a movie that you can watch a single time. Trust me, this movie does not have the contents in storyline or action contents to support more than a single viewing.
My rating of the 1998 movie "The Ultimate Weapon" lands on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars. Truth be told, then the movie was actually somewhat better than I had anticipated it would be.
