Movie debuts of Abe Vigoda and Richard S. Castellano. Both would later appear in O Poderoso Chefão (1972).
Annie Girardot says in her autobiography that the filming conditions in NY City were absolutely unbearable for the shooting crew. There was no place for make up or costumes; they had to go into the public toilets; the same for sleeping; and Marcel Carné had to beg in Central Park to obtain extras. He decided to go back to France and proceeded with the production on the Billancourt lot.
