I was eight years old when these came out and was absolutely thrilled by the adventure they managed to capture. Perfect cast for each character, authentic costumes, awesome music, simple yet complex story and everything a pirate movie should have.

No nonsense effects or other fancy stuff that you see in movies these days, no silliness and attempts to insert exaggerated humor into every scene. This is a good old fashioned adventure and if you are a fan of pirate movies, this one should be on your list of must see films.

I am giving this one a score nine, not just out of nostalgia, but also because every time I re-watch this now, I can still find that sense of adventure and thrill, despite a few flaws that I always start to ignore, since the overall feel of the movie easily outweighs the weaker things, that are mostly contributed to the lower budget I presume. This European movie easily beats most of the high budget movies of today. Get yourself a version in Italian with English subs, grab your favorite movie snack, fasten the seat belt and get ready to for a thrilling adventure.
