Richie Rich's Christmas Wish is a 1998 direct-to-video sequel to 1994's Richie Rich. It was directed by John Murlowski and written by Jason Feffer, Mark Furey, & Rob Kerchner. It stars David Gallagher as the title character.
Richie Rich (played by David Gallagher) is the world's richest kid. On Christmas Eve, after playing with his friends, Richie visits his home scientist Professor Keanbean (played by Eugene Levy), who shows him his new Wishing Machine that only works on Christmas Eve. He tries it out, but it's not working right, so he goes to get ready to see his cousin who is visiting. He sees his very mean cousin Reggie (played by Jake Richardson) and heads off to a sleigh with his butler Cadbury (played by Keene Curtis) that they are going to drive to an orphanage and give gifts to all of the children there. However, Reggie sabotages the sleigh and it crashes, leaving everyone talking about how Richie Rich ruined Christmas. Richie runs home and wishes that he was never born and the Wishing Machine grants his wish! No one remembers who he is, but there is another problem. Reggie now lives in his mansion and has taken control of the town, leaving many homeless and threatening to cancel Christmas! Richie must do his best to find Professor Keanbean and his Wishing Machine before Christmas Eve is over or things will be stuck like this forever!
I actually had a lot of fun watching this movie. It's target audience was mostly children, so some of it is pretty predictable and childish. The acting isn't perfect, but it really isn't as bad as people say it is. David Gallagher was a great choice to replace Macauley Culkin, who played Richie in the previous film. I also thought that Keene Curtis did a really good job as Cadbury. Jake Richardson did a great job of making me absolutely hate his character! There really weren't any actors or actresses that I can say did a terrible job. Some of the special effects weren't too good, but I can't really criticize them for that as those were pretty much the best they could do at the time on a smaller budget.
All in all, I thought it was a really fun family movie, but I'm sure children would enjoy it the most. If you watch it, don't go in expecting a masterpiece, and I'm sure you'll have a good time!

This spin-off movie to the 1994 Macaulay Culkin movie has the exact same plot to the 1946 classic film "It's a Wonderful Life" in which Richie Rich (played by David Gallagher of Television's 7th Heaven) is the George Bailey character and Reggie Van Dough (played by Jake Richardson of Fudge and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves) is the Mr. Potter character. the story is awkward and ridiculous, the characters are okay since they were based off the Comic Book series by Harvey Entertainment who brought us Casper the Friendly Ghost and Baby Huey and even Eugene Levy plays a good role as Professor Keanbean and even Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren play a very good role as Richie Rich's parents and the last role of Keene Curtis as Cadbury before his death in 2002. so on and all this cheesy family christmas movie produced by the company that brought us Power Rangers is not to great and recommend seeing "It's a Wonderful Life".
Richie Rich christmas wish is a film about a 13-year old boy who had a cousin named Reggie. Reggie was very mean to Richie.... So one day Reggie did a embarrassing thing for Richie. So Richie wished in a machine that he was never born.
Richie Rich (David Gallagher) is the richest kid in the world. Professor Keenbean (Eugene Levy) has created a wishing machine from a dinosaur's wish bone. Of course, it goes badly. His wish is that he was never born. His bratty cousin Reggie Van Dough is the new richest kid in the world.
The fun of Richie Rich is his many gadgets and endless riches. I'm not saying that he's actually fun. Whatever fun is the ridiculous riches. The most fun in this one happens with the familiar faces who pop up. On a side note, Reggie looks a bit like Millie Bobby Brown. Otherwise, this is a not so fun straight-to-video.

This was a cute movie. I watched it with my family a couple Christmas's ago and thought it was good. It tries to teach lessons about giving and selflessness, but they are still subtle enough to children that they will be intrigued by it.
The down side, I think, it how obviously fake some of the special effects are. But hey, it was made in 1998. You can't criticize it too much for that.
I don't think it will ever be as big as "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", but it is a nice movie to watch with family to get you into the Christmas season.

- Someone knocks at the door which Sgt. Mooney would put a hole in later. A maid opens the door and it is a package delivery man. She says "Oh,another one!" After she closes the door and puts the package down,Richie gets out of the box. Now we know how he got in,and we know what present it was that Reggie says he found torn open.
- After Richie finds his parents at the orphanage, instead of going to outside the Rich Manor,we go inside where Mr and Mrs. Rich,Cadbury,Prof. Keenbeen and Mrs. Peabody from the orphanage are sitting by the fire. Richie come up and gives them each a present. Mr and Mrs. Van Dough appear with Reggie and
- Reggie is forced to apologize to Richie for making the sleigh malfunction. Mrs. Van Dough says "Kids, you know. You never know what they'll do" Richie gives them presents as well and Prof. Keenbean tells everybody to listen. He can hear people singing outside. They all retreat outdoors. Then the scene from the video version starts outside.
