A controversial interview of Dev Anand was published in the magazine "Bombay" in 1979. Dev stated he loved Bombay but Bombay would be eventually damaged by the ever growing Maharashtrian influence. Dev felt Bombay was cosmopolitan city and needed to grow. When the interview came out, Shiv Sena threaten to boy cot his film and would not allow Loot Maar to release.
The english movie,Star Strek's Hollywood actress, Persis Kambata who went to Hollywood was also in Loot Maar, but it seems it dint work out and the veteran actress Bindu shot for Loot Maar but all her scenes were deleted from the film.
During the making of Des Pardes, Dev Anand, daily, when he reads newspapers, mostly daily he would read news about crimes, robbery, kidnaping, gangsters, etc, these were the big issue and headlines in those days. So from these type of news from newspapers, he got the story idea of Loot Maar and he wrote the script and started the film.
The first script of Lootmaar was a remake of "The Good Bye Girl". Hema Malini was signed for the lead role. Dev later changed the script and Hema opted out.
