That is why an embarrassed John Grady said "I wouldn't know anything about that. That don't interest me." As I recall, the captain 'colored' (blushed) at John Grady's remark. This could mean that the captain was juxtaposing the assertion that the Blevins was a murderer but not yet in puberty.
