This series added elements of science fiction and fantasy to the Zorro legend, with the hero battling supervillians who used steampunk gadgets and magic. Zorro employed similar equipment designed by his mute manservant, Bernardo, and was aided by the magic of the Native American wise woman, Grey Owl.
The bumbling Sergent Garcia, played by Tony Pope, was a character on the Zorro (1957) live-action show who was popularized by Henry Calvin's portrayal.
Although the show was syndicated, it aired mostly on affiliates that aired Kids WB.
This series was produced by Fred Wolf Films with Zorro Productions, Inc., Harvest Entertainment, and Carrington Productions Incorporated all as Co-Producers. The show was distributed by Warner Bros. International Television.
This would be the second time Michael Gough, the voice of Zorro, would work on a Fred Wolf Fims production. Gough had previously played Raphael on the 10th and final season of Fred Wolf Films' long running cartoon series As Tartarugas Ninja (1987).
