The series is a futuristic retelling of the Greek legend of Ulysses.
This was noticeable for being DiC's first series as an independent company, and the third DiC series ever produced. Cro et Bronto (1980) being the first, and Archibald the Magic Dog (1980) being the second.
On Children's BBC in the UK, during the broadcast of one episode. Phillip Schofield and Gordon the Gopher sung along to the theme song in the cartoon's intro.
The cartoon has the same premise as the classic science fiction television series Lost in Space (1965) (TV Series) and later science fiction series Star Trek: Voyager (1995) (TV Series). Sliders (1995) (TV Series) and Stargate: Infinity (2002) (TV Series).
