Where can I buy the DVD

Did they even make a DVD set for this show. I watched it back in the late 90's when I wasn't out in the world. It was an awesome mix of cast mates carrying each other, damn Fox you didn't know a gold nugget when you had it in your hand. It's too bad that you folks always get rid of the black shows that was rocking and out doing the yt TV shows. I mean you start out with chemistry between Duane and Viv then the supporting casts which are white other than William fit right into the frame work. It would literally and could've been a long running show, because it's 2023 Dec 1 and my children just started watching it with my wife and I and they love it.

A show that had good chemistry

This was definitely a good show. It started off as a mid-season replacement and Fox didn't anticipate it becoming such a hit with the audiences. The show obviously had good writers at the time because it was funny and simple. Vivica Fox and Duane Martin, who had been in a sitcom before with Patti LaBelle "Out All Night" had a great chemistry and Jon Cryer being added to the mix made the show all that more enjoyable. I fondly remember how cool he was from the movie "Hiding Out".

Of course, what always happens to a show when the major stars are black? It gets canned. Its like trying to figure out the mystery of the vanishing sock in the washing machine...they go in a pair and come out one...go figure. The second season started off great and then things changed...first sure sign a black show is on the outs, they change actors or get rid of actors or they change the whole dynamics of the show. Next comes the constant changing of time slots, which confuses the viewers who are looking for the show in the old time slot, guaranteed to lose viewers and drop ratings and then POOF.....its canned.

Isn't Hollywood ever going to learn that if a black show works, gets good ratings and brings more viewers, then it ain't broke so quit trying to fix it until its broke.

Why do the good black shows get canned?

I remember this show with fondness. It had good chemistry from the very start. Jon Cry, Duane Martin and Vivica Fox made a great team. They also had a good supporting cast. It was a mid season replacement but it was so good I think that Fox (the network) was stupid for not carrying it as a regular show.

Its a shame that good shows like this one always end up getting the axe for one "unknown" reason or another.

An Office Comedy

Getting Personal had a great cast and smart adult humor. Think 2 and a Half Men set in an advertising office. My favorite episodes were the one with Tichia Campbell Martin and the one where Vivica Fox's character goes back home. The show was part of a great Fox line up that is long forgotten. Somewhere I have a video tape of Getting Personal and Damon Wayans first show which was also great. The show should never have been cancelled. The show should be on DVD or streaming. If I had a million dollars I would bring back Fox and Campbell and re make the show. If I had to grade the show. Getting Personal while not family comedy would get 2 thumbs high up.

short lived show that was okay

THis short lived sitcom was okay. It was nothing that great. It made you laugh a few times but I can see why it didn't last. IT didn't help that FOX stuck it on Friday nights when no one watches TV. Getting Personal is a lot better than a lot of the awful sitcoms that make it to TV today
