There are films that you watch with fascinated interest. Then there are "Roller Babies" who you can follow with a finger on the forward button - and still can't look away. A low-budget spectacle that masquerades as a "Rollerball" parody but is actually a futuristic porn fairy tale. Sexy roller-skating Amazons fight for the film's raison d'être in a dystopian future. The plot is as full of holes as the actresses' tights. That this film was ever shown at a sci-fi convention is an irony that even Isaac Asimov couldn't have imagined. Nevertheless: A strange magic emanates from these productions. The grotesque costumes, the absurd story and the trashy production make "Roller Babies" an entertaining fever dream. Conclusion: 5/10 stars for maximum trash value and minimum necessity.
