Tim Allen ‘Never Felt Good’ About Getting Harold Ramis Fired From ‘Galaxy Quest’
Image
While the Santa Clause franchise is completely unhinged, and Jungle 2 Jungle has aged about as well as a carton of milk that had already expired before Jungle 2 Jungle came out, there’s at least one live-action Tim Allen movie that still holds up today: Galaxy Quest.

Sure, it’s basically a Star Trek-coded remake of Three Amigos, but Galaxy Quest is a genuinely funny movie. And it works in large part thanks to the cast, which includes the late great Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shalhoub and Sam Rockwell. Plus, the dude from Home Improvement.

Allen plays the thinly-veiled Shatner surrogate Jason Nesmith, a washed-up actor famous for captaining the Nsea Protector on TV’s Galaxy Quest, often with no shirt on.

As we’ve mentioned before, the Dean Parisot-helmed comedy was originally supposed to be directed by Harold Ramis — until the studio tried to force him to work with Allen.

Searching for the Ideal 4th of July Movie? Look No Further Than ‘Drop Zone’
Image
Reader, you have been lied to! Film history is littered with unfairly maligned classics, whether critics were too eager to review the making of rather than the finished product, or they suffered from underwhelming ad campaigns or general disinterest. Let’s revise our takes on some of these films from wrongheaded to the correct opinion.

When director John Badham‘s skydiving thriller “Drop Zone” was released by Paramount Pictures in December 1994, the general perception was that it was a ridiculous and disposable programmer. It did Ok at the box office (opening at number three behind Barry Levinson‘s hot-button drama “Disclosure” and the Tim Allen family hit “The Santa Clause”), but critics had their knives out for the movie’s allegedly indefensible plot holes, and the movie was largely forgotten a few weeks after it opened.

“Drop Zone,” with its story of a US Marshal (Wesley Snipes) pursuing a gang...

Why Disney Had To Cut A Controversial Scene From The Santa Clause
Image
Although sold to audiences as a delightful holiday comedy for the family, John Pasquin's 1994 blockbuster "The Santa Clause" has a twisted premise at its heart. Divorced dad Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) is looking after his young son Charlie (Eric Lloyd) on Christmas night when, up on the roof, there arises a clatter. He goes to investigate and finds the very real Santa Claus preparing to go down his chimney. Scott yells out and startles Santa, causing the jolly old man to fall off the roof to his death. The accidental manslaughter of Santa Claus is a weird place to start a heartwarming fable for kids, much less Disney's larger "Santa Clause" franchise.

Scott then finds a business card among Santa's belongings, entreating him to don the furry red coat and pick up the Christmas gig where Santa left off. Scott, in turn, returns the sleigh to the North Pole...

Chris Parnell Breaks Down Last Night’s Easter-Themed ‘Rick and Morty’
Image
Easter may have been a couple of months ago, but that didn’t stop last night’s Rick and Morty from “decking the house with Easter baskets,” as Jerry sang in his horrendous musical opening.

Of course, Rick and Morty did Easter the only way Rick and Morty could: beginning with Jerry running over the Easter Bunny with his car and continuing with the complex, interplanetary Easter origin story in which Jesus Christ — yes, that Jesus Christ — was an alien sent to Earth to eradicate the Easter Bunny, a human-sized ravenous beast that brainwashes people into having sex with each other.

While Rick and Morty themselves deal with the larger space story, Jerry’s arc in the episode sees him transform into the new Easter Bunny, much like Tim Allen turned into Santa after accidentally killing him in The Santa Clause.

And so, we decided to turn to the voice of Jerry himself,...

A Santa Clauses Star Called Working With Tim Allen The Worst Experience Ever
Image
Never meet your heroes — or Tim Allen, that is. Few things are quite as unpleasant and soul-crushing as finding out that an actor you've adored is a total d**k in real life. And rest assured, the silver screen Santa Claus that we Millennials used to cherish and laugh at growing up has done a lot to obliterate our immature fandom and warrant our utmost contempt instead. Case in point: /Film's Bj Colangelo previously wrote about a story that involved Allen being a prick to his co-star Rene Russo on the set of Barry Sonnenfeld's dark comedy "Big Trouble".

But even if you set aside Allen essentially calling Russo "unattractive" to her face, he has a long history of engaging in problematic behavior throughout his career with his co-stars and other celebrities. One of the most scathing of those comes from actor, comedian, and screenwriter Casey Wilson, who worked...

The Fate of Tim Allen's 'Shifting Gears' Has Finally Been Decided
Image
ABC is keeping the engine running on its newest family comedy. The network has officially renewed Shifting Gears for Season 2, giving fans more time with Tim Allen and Kat Dennings' delightfully dysfunctional father-daughter duo. Created by Julie Thacker Scully and Mike Scully, with Michelle Nader serving as showrunner, the multi-cam sitcom follows estranged father Matt (Allen) and daughter Riley (Dennings) as they attempt to rebuild their fractured relationship — with plenty of sarcasm, misunderstandings, and reluctant bonding along the way.

There initially seemed to be little chance of the show not being renewed when it debuted in January and quickly became ABC’s most-streamed comedy premiere ever, pulling in a whopping 17 million cross-platform viewers in just seven days, but doubts began to creep in as live viewership dipped as the season progressed, even though the show consistently saw solid gains in delayed viewing.

Plot details for Season 2 are being kept under wraps,...

Tim Allen Shares a Nostalgic ‘Toy Story’ Exchange With Tom Hanks in New Images
Image
Shifting Gears star Tim Allen has shared a delightful exchange between him and his Toy Story co-star, Tom Hanks, on social media. Allen and Hanks first teamed up 30 years ago for Toy Story (1995), the animated adventure film that was not only nominated for three Oscars, but also grossed over $390 million at the global box office against a $30 million budget. The two have since worked together on every Toy Story movie, even as recently as Toy Story 4 in 2019, which grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Allen posted two photos on his personal X account, one Hanks sent him of him standing behind the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz, and another that he replied to his co-star, recreating his picture.

While their roles in the Toy Story franchise remain some of the most important in both of their careers, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks have both gone on to accomplish great things as actors.

Christmas 2024 Was Most-Streamed Day of TV Ever, According to Nielsen
Image
You are reading an exclusive WrapPRO article for free. Want to level up your entertainment career? Go here for more information.

The most wonderful time for streaming officially has a date: Dec. 25, 2024. That single day accounted for 51.2 billion minutes of cumulative streaming time, according to Nielsen, making it the most-streamed day of television for the U.S. in the company’s history of measurement.

Streaming represented roughly half of total TV consumption on that day, clocking in at 49.5%.

So what were people watching on Christmas Day? Unsurprisingly, Netflix stole the show. The Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans NFL game was the most-watched event of the day, securing 2.98 billion minutes streamed alone. The Ravens and Texans likely got an assist from Beyoncé, who performed during halftime. That was followed by the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburg Steelers game, which also secured 2.98 billion minutes streamed, though it saw roughly 200,000 fewer streaming minutes than the other game.

‘Shifting Gears’ Just Made the Tim Allen-Verse Canon
Image
Tim Allen is undeniably one of the small screen's most illustrious and successful stars, with the funny man having memorably headlined two of television's greatest sitcoms: the '90s juggernaut Home Improvement and the 2010s hit Last Man Standing. Allen has made the sitcom genre his bread and butter, winning numerous accolades, like a Golden Globe and People's Choice Award for his unforgettable work. He also famously starred as Buzz Lightyear in the beloved Toy Story animated series and as Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause franchise.

In 2025, Allen made his dazzling return to television with Shifting Gears, appearing alongside famous faces like Kat Dennings, Sean William Scott, and Daryl "Chill" Mitchell and portraying a widower and auto shop owner who is reunited with his estranged daughter and her two children after she decides to move home and regroup after separating from her husband. ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ Adds David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham (Exclusive)
Image
David Krumholtz, who was recently part of the all-star cast of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, and British actress Emily Beecham have joined the space-faring cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Craig Gillespie is directing for Warner Bros. Discovery arm DC Studios.

The feature, which began shooting this week in DC’s UK production hub of Leavesden, is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic book mini-series and stars House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock playing Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman.

It’s unclear how faithful the script by Ana Nogueira is to the comic, which eschewed the traditional good vs. bad tropes and instead was a cosmic character piece, spanning many worlds and alien cultures. The Eisner-nominated 2021 story was told from the perspective of a young alien girl named Ruthye who enlists the aid of Supergirl is a quest of revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills,...

Shifting Gears Season 2: Will It Happen? Everything We Know
Image
ABC's uproarious new sitcom Shifting Gears features TV legend Tim Allen in one of its lead roles, but will the father-daughter comedy get renewed for season 2? Debuting in the early days of 2025, the series follows a widower named Matt (Allen) who reunites with his estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her two kids when she hits the end of her rope and needs somewhere to stay. While the pair try to work out their differences, Riley tries to figure out what she's going to do with her life, and Matt tries to adjust to his new living situation.

While it might be getting generally bad reviews, Shifting Gears has one big thing going for it, that being the TV starpower of Tim Allen. The Toy Story and The Santa Clause star has rarely missed in his TV ventures, with long-running sitcoms like Home Improvement and Last Man Standing being the comic actor's true wheelhouse.

Tim Allen Reveals if 'Home Improvement' Alum Jonathan Taylor Thomas Will Make 'Shifting Gears' Cameo
Image
Could there be an on-screen reunion for Home Improvement father and son duo Tim Allen and Jonathan Taylor Thomas in the works? Don't count it out. Allen, whose latest sitcom, Shifting Gears, premiered on January 8, said "everything is a possibility" when speaking to US Weekly about potentially sharing the screen with Thomas again for his latest project. Allen and Thomas famously co-starred on Home Improvement for 8 seasons from 1991 to 1999. The two reunited again in 2013 for the Allen led-Last Man Standing, with Thomas appearing in four episodes (from 2013 to 2015) and directing three.

"Everything is a possibility. He just came back [to the last episode we filmed]. He showed up on the set. He's literally my kid. I raised that kid for eight years on Home Improvement. All of these are my kids, and I'm kind of sick about this."

Allen's last statement seems to reference his Home Improvement co-star, Zachery Ty Bryan, who portrayed oldest sibling, Brad.

Tim Allen's Beloved Sitcom, 'Home Improvement,' is Coming to Netflix
Image
Tim Allen's beloved 1990s sitcom is finally coming to Netflix. Home Improvement ran for eight seasons on ABC, and was a hit with fans, who made it a ratings success for Disney. Even former President Jimmy Carter had a cameo on the show.

Home Improvement premiered in 1991 and followed the life of Tim "Tool Man" Taylor (Allen), the host of a local home improvement show who is married to Jill (Patricia Heaton) and raising three sons. The show ran until May 1999 and was created by Carmen Finestra, Matt Williams, and David McFadzean. It's classic 1980s and 90s sitcom fare that became popular early on.

The characters are what made Home Improvement such a hit. Those on the Tool Time show brought plenty of laughs, including Richard Karn as his co-host, Al, and Pamela Anderson as Lisa, prior to her famous role on Baywatch.

Meanwhile, Taylor's home life made for memorable episodes and characters.

Tim Allen Talks Returning To The World Of Sitcoms In Shifting Gears
Image
Tim Allen returns to the world of sitcoms with Shifting Gears, a new show from creators Mike and Julie Thacker Scully and showrunner Michelle Nader. In the series, a widower and car workshop owner named Matt (Allen) takes in his estranged daughter Riley (Kay Dennings) and her two kids (Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis). The show also features Sean William Scott and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as workers at Matt’s auto shop.

Allen is, of course, a sitcom legend. The actor and comedian led Home Improvement, a sitcom based on his own stand-up comedy material, from 1991 to 1999. The role even won Allen a Golden Globe award. Allen’s next sitcom, Last Man Standing, ran for even longer, beginning in 2011 and ending in 2021 after 194 episodes. In addition to his TV roles, Allen has starred in truly beloved movies and franchises including Toy Story (Allen recently gave an optimistic Toy Story 5 update) and The Santa Clause.

'The Santa Clauses' Finally Fixed That Awful Ending 16 Years Later
Image
Quick Links 'The Santa Clause' Trilogy and Weak Third Movie 'The Santa Clause' TV Series Fixed the Ending

30 years after its premiere, The Santa Clause remains a holiday classic. We all know the story. After accidentally killing Santa Claus, Tim Allen's Scott Calvin has to take his place. Pretty bold start to a kid's movie when you think about it. The original film received two sequels, The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause. While the first outing earned mainly positive reviews, critical and audience reception dipped as the franchise went on.

The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause was regarded by many as the weakest of the three. Since no fourth film was ever commissioned, it looked like that was where Santa would hang up his jacket. But a decade-and-a-half later, we revisited the world with The Santa Clauses TV series.

Every Mr. Hankey ‘South Park’ Appearance Ranked by How Much Shit He Gets All Over Everything
Image
Every town has its own Christmas traditions, and in South Park, Colorado, it’s Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo rubbing shit all over the place as he spreads holiday cheer. It began with him defecating on pretty much every square inch of Kyle’s bathroom back in December of 1997, and the tradition has continued ever since.

I re-watched all seven episodes of South Park where Mr. Hankey appears for more than a cameo, and then ranked them by exactly how much he shits on the town. Honestly, it was just about the most festive thing I could think of.

7 ‘A Very Crappy Christmas,’ Season 4, Episode 17

This episode introduces Mr. Hankey’s family. But despite Mr. Hankey having a fairly large supporting role, he doesn’t get poop on much of anything. That said, “A Very Crappy Christmas” does contain the “The Circle of Life” parody “The Circle of Poo,” which...

'The Santa Clause's Bernard the Elf Gave Seth Rogen the Greatest Gift An Actor Could Ask For [Exclusive]

Sometimes, the greatest gift an actor can receive isn’t a role or an award, it’s feeling like you belong where you are and where you're headed. For The Santa Clause star David Krumholtz, who famously played Bernard the Elf, that was the gift he bestowed when he became an unexpected mentor to a teenage Seth Rogen. Lindsay Lohan & 4 More Christmas Movie Stars You Forgot Were In Soaps
Image
While some soap stars stick to the drama of daytime, others branch into movies of the holiday variety. Here are five Christmas movie stars you forgot appeared on soaps.

Lindsay Lohan

It was just before she pulled double duty in The Parent Trap that Lindsay Lohan held a recurring role on Another World as Alli. Her character lasted a year before the character exited and was later recast, but that wasn’t Lohan’s first daytime role. In 1993, the actress appeared on Guiding Light as Chrissie.

While Lohan has since made a name for herself in recent years starring in Christmas romcoms on Netflix, like Falling for Christmas and Our Little Secret, you also can’t forget the iconic scene in Mean Girls where the group perform some sexy choreography to “Jingle Bell Rock.”

Tom Hanks’ Divisive Christmas Adventure Finds Renewed Streaming Success In Time For 20th Anniversary
Image
Tom Hanks' divisive Christmas adventure film finds renewed streaming success just in time for its 20th anniversary. Though his most frequent collaborator is Steven Spielberg, Hanks is also well known for his various collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis, starting with 1994's Forrest Gump, for which he won his second Academy Award for Best Actor. In 2000, Hanks reunited with Zemeckis for Cast Away and earned another Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Some of Hanks' latest movies have also been directed by Zemeckis, including 2022's live-action Pinnochio, in which he played Geppetto, and 2024's Here, in which the actor was digitally de-aged. In addition to his onscreen roles that have made him one of the most recognizable movie stars, Hanks has also lent his voice to a few animated characters throughout his career, most famously Woody in the Toy Story movies. Tom Hanks' collaborations with Robert Zemeckis also extend to the animated realm with the 2004 Christmas film,...

Poll: What’s Your Favorite Christmas Movie?
Image
’Twas the weekend before Christmas… With the holiday season upon us, many of us are starting to revisit some of our of Christmas favourites. I actually went to see a 4K re-release of the original Black Christmas last night here in Montreal. There’s something comforting upon returning to our old favourites every year, whether they be traditional Christmas classics, or perhaps something a little more modern, like Die Hard, which, despite many claiming otherwise, has totally established itself as a Christmas classic over the years.

Whatever the case, there are certainly Loads of Christmas movies, with everything from old-time classics like It’s A Wonderful Life or some of the many versions of A Christmas Carol (the Alistair Sim version is the best Imo), or something like Love Actually, which is virtually inescapable at this time of the year.

With that in mind, we’d love to figure out just...

What's on TV tonight, Dec. 22, 2024?
Image
It is time for the broadcast networks to air their holiday programming. Regular TV has taken a break for the rest of the year. Here’s a look at what you can watch on TV tonight, Sunday, Dec. 22.

This is the time of year when people spend time with families or they go out to Christmas parties. It means fewer people are watching TV live, and the networks don’t want to risk the linear ratings for their regular shows. CBS was the last of the networks to take a break last week, and now we’re into the full holiday programming.

There’s plenty to watch still. You don’t need to turn to streaming just yet.

The Santa Clause, The Kennedy Center Honors, and more

Let’s start with something that is for the whole family. ABC has opted for movie night each Sunday, and tonight is no different.

Billie Eilish and the Forum are like birds of a feather. Since 2020, the Los Angeles native has performed in the storied concert venue multiple times, the latest stop being a five-night run that marks her triumphant hometown return.

Eilish kicked off her L.A. stint of the Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour on Sunday, Dec. 15, designating a different opener for each night — The Marías, Towa Bird, Nat and Alex Wolff, Ashnikko and Finneas, respectively. The 23-year-old began the trek in September, playing 36 dates on the North American leg, which wraps in L.A. Following the Grammy Awards on Feb. 2 (the singer is up for seven Grammy nominations), Eilish will head to Australia for the international leg of the tour.

But this week, it’s all about her homecoming at the Kia Forum. Here are highlights from her five-night run, which is scheduled to end on Dec. 21.

So Many Christmas Movies Have The Exact Same Massive Plot Hole
Image
Once December hits, it's time to break out the Christmas movies, most of which are thoroughly entertaining, despite the fact that they have the same frustrating plot hole. Production studios have released a wide variety of festive flicks over the years. From classics like It's a Wonderful Life to modern films like The Christmas Chronicles, there are so many entertaining and heartwarming holiday movies to watch at the end of each year. However, some contain an inconsistency that has been repeated time and time again, resulting in frustration during what's supposed to be a joyful and celebratory time.

In early 2024, Gary Goetzman, producer of The Polar Express, told Comicbook.com that a sequel is in the works at Warner Bros. However, the studio has yet to make any official announcements regarding the movie.

Of course, not everything is supposed to be taken at face value in Christmas films. Many of them...

'Bad Santa' and 'Bad Santa 2' are Streaming for Free on Pluto TV
Image
The unconventional holiday classic Bad Santa and its sequel have proven to be a free streaming hit this Christmas, as the movies hold the top two spots on Pluto TV in the U.S. The Billy Bob Thornton-led R-rated comedies certainly aren’t the kind of movies to sit and watch with the kids and your elderly aunt, but that hasn’t stopped it making a huge impression after joining the platform this December.

Despite its position as one of the most irreverent Christmas movies of all time, it seems that the black comedy, with its crude humor and anti-holiday vibe, is proving to be just as much of a hit as family comedy classics such as The Santa Clause, Home Alone, and Elf. Perhaps there is only so much saccharine-laden Christmas cheer that anyone can take, and there really isn’t a better alternative than Bad Santa to counter it.

An Iconic Disney Holiday Franchise Ruined Its Best Trend in the First Movie
Image
Quick Links The Santa Clause Had a Planned Release Under Disney’s Hollywood Pictures Label The Santa Clause 2 Removed Tim Allen’s Trademark Sarcasm From the Franchise The Santa Clause TV Show Aligns More With Movies 2 and 3 in the Franchise

It's no secret that it's tough to create a memorable Christmas movie that sticks with audiences for years to come. Many are produced each year, but few become classics that families will watch together time and time again. In 1994, Disney produced an off-beat Christmas movie starring comedian Tim Allen titled The Santa Clause. At the top of his game in the mid-1990s with a hit TV show, Allen seemed like somewhat of an unconventional choice to play Santa Claus. But the film ended up being successful, so successful that it expanded into a franchise in the early 2000s.

What set The Santa Clause apart, however, from its follow-up installments...
