I was actually very much surprised to see as decent a film like that on the RTL channel back in '97 or '96 - but only until I found out who had directed the film. Keglevic has done a very good job with Rudolf Kowalski (in a top role as the latter-day agent of Roy Black) and Christoph Waltz who convincingly portrayed the insecure rock-star made Schlagersänger. The film focuses on the years between his discovery and his decline, ending just before he is to comeback as an actor.
Some songs in this movie were sang by Roy Orbison. He was Roy Black's idol, therefore he used his first name in his pseudonym. The 'Black' is cause of his black hair and his nickname in school 'Blacky'.
In a scene, Roy is performing "Ganz in Weiß" in a television studio, that is styled after the earlier studio of "ZDF Hitparade". Althrough "Ganz in Weiß" was published in 1965, but the first "ZDF Hitparade" was broadcasted in 1969.

In the title card at the beginning of the movie, the words 'Roy Black' were written in the style, as the real Roy Black wrote them on an autograph card.
