Lieutenant Marin Kim (Sal Landi) tells his story to a reporter of how he accompanied Captain Fetterman (Andrew Divoff) to an island 200 miles off the coast of the United States allegedly to clear the island of explosive ordinance, but once there with his team they uncover an extraterrestrial secret left forgotten for 50 years that has its sights set on revenge on humans.

While the in name only sequel to Xtro, Xtro II: The Second Encounter was a troubled production, the home video market at the time meant it was successful enough to warrant this third entry which according to director and producer Harry Bromley Davenport was a much more pleasant experience than Xtro II. Xtro 3: Watch the Skies is a superior effort to Xtro II, but not to the point where I'd call it passable or serviceable.

While Xtro II took inspiration from Alien/Aliens with its tight corridors, creature effects, and general character set, Xtro 3 takes inspiration from Predator with a jungle/island setting and an alien antagonist with cloaking abilities and mixes it with aesthetic and thematic similarities to the X-Files. The movie is way better made than Xtro II and also features more engaged characters including one character named Banta who, no joke, has a backstory inspired by Tonya Harding for some reason. The alien in Xtro while a very generic design is at least more dynamic and articulated than the xenomorph like creature from the predecessor. While being better than the bottom of the barrel Xtro II, it doesn't elevate itself to good as it's still padded with thin characters who don't have the chemistry or presence of its inspiration in Predator.

Xtro 3 is what it is, a below average direct-to-video film. It doesn't do anything wrong like its predecessor, but it doesn't do anything to distinguish itself from a crowded field either.

I like Sci-Fi movies and everything 'bout it and aliens, so i watched this flick. Nothing new, nothing special, average acting, typical H. B. Davenport' story, weak and cheesy FX's, bad ending of movie, but still the author idea is good. The marines on lost island find the truth about alien landing there and truth about past-experiments on them. They die one after one, some of them were killed by lonely alien, and others by human enemies. UFO effects, when it flees and crushes are bad,too. The voices of angry alien are funny,too. Reminds me on young monkeys. The movie is not scary, not very funny (maybe the old man, which marines find on the lost island, is the funniest freak in the movie. He's all confused and he dances all the time like old drunk). A little better sequel than XTRO 2: Second Encounter and 3-times weakest than the original movie. As I say "for the hardest fans only".

A small US military group are sent to a deserted island to dispose any live bombs. When they get there, something not quite right. As they find out that they're expendable objects who would soon encounter one vengeful alien. Through an old hermit on the island they discover that this was a place where they kept an alien species and experimented on them. Not only they have an angry ET to face, but Military intelligence who plan to use them as bait.

While, this is the third of the "Xtro" series, there's no relation between the three films. "Predator" heavily influences this tacky straight-to video Sci-fi fare. One thing definitely is that "Predator" is a definite masterpiece when compared to this cheap, hokey and pitifully vapid effort. Even the actors here, make Schwarzenegger look good! Very embarrassing execution, disastrously inept special effects and daft performances may you think "Oh no. There goes another one of my brain cells" when watching this one-of-a-kind piece of trash. The stuffy film is amateurishly put together with a clichéd narrative that's shamelessly derivative. Reckless characters act tough and spit out macho dribble with attitude. It's pretty mind numbing to listen to, especially when it goes for meaningful conversations. Streaming through is a husky voice-over and a lot white rabbits to hold your attention. Yeah, there's something engaging about those white fluffy rabbits!

Despite finding it quite an irritable and drab viewing, few things hit the mark. There are some quite nasty moments when the rubbery alien decides it's torture time with some blood squirting. The thunderous music score manages a few chilling cues. While the performances are laughably hopeless, but Robert Culp and a slightly amusing Andrew Divoff are the odd exception. While, the make-up effects of the outer space visitor are questionable, it still manages to hold up for its tiny budget.

Director Harry Bromley (who also directed the first two flicks) is really clutching at straws with this flatly handled and too practical project. Imaginative details, gripping suspense and bug-eyed visuals are long gone here. No techniques really stand out in this by the numbers exercise and what he comes up with is mostly ridiculous and ineffective.

Poorly done garbage that turns into a wearisome puddle.

I rented a bunch of sci-fi movies last Saturday and was surprised that two were outstanding afternoon fare. I don't know about the previous parts of Xtro but Part three had it all. Good special effects, a worthy script, fine acting and some interesting direction. I liked everyone, character wise. The plot made sense. Marines are sent to a Pacific island to rid it of WW II mines - but they were really sent to find the sole survivor of an old air force secret and the Marines finds themselves at the mercy of a chameleon-like alien locked up (not for long) in a block of cement. The flash back sequence, the humorous filmreel at the start of the film and the story within a story worked well. I had a good time. Sci-Fi's only...........

I watched the first Xtro film the first time a while back and it was not anything all that great, but it passed the time and kept me wondering what the heck was going on. It was like if you took the film Alien and threw it in a blender with a bit of E.T. and Poltergeist. Strange, but it was something different. Then I watched the second film, and it made the first seem even better as it was simply Alien as it was just a creature systematically killing the cast as they went through air vents and stuff. Now I have finally watched the final Xtro film and it has less in common with the first film, than did the second! Here, the makers simply did a horrible rip off of Predator with a guy who sounded like Ray Romano as the lead guy and Robert Culp who got his name first on the DVD and had maybe three minutes of screen time.

The story, a group of soldiers is assembled so they can head to an island and diffuse bombs. That is what they are told; however, the person in charge has ulterior motives. A strange old man is found, warning them that they are all going to die and after what seems an eternity the alien creature makes its appearance and a really slow mayhem ensues! The soldiers must figure a way off the island before the alien and other forces close in on them and kill them all!

Just not a good film to me at all. There was not much gore to speak of in this one, no nudity and the story was slow paced as the running time on this one could have been cut 10 or 15 minutes. There was too much emphasis placed on certain aspects of the story and not enough alien out and killing. The alien uses the same cloaking mechanism as the one from Predator, but it looks like a Grey. The film just did not work in any area as the subtitle was watch the skies, but I was watching the run time and constantly wishing this one were over.

This is a gross film. There is nothing about it that has any redeeming virtue. It was remarkable only for how quickly it went downhill. You start to like the characters and the creepy vibe of the island - then it just turns into torture and screaming and stupidity and complete indifference to suffering. I turned it off.

It always amazes me how many of the peripheral films that involve say people who went to film school, have a certain degree of technical skill, know a little something about movie making, end up producing one absolutely wretched film after another. This movie has decent production values for a low-budget film. Its failures are all of intelligence and morality.

Can't give it 0 stars or I would. I hope these losers are long out of the film business. OTOH i hope they are spitting into my hamburger either.

The XTRO-trilogy (if you can call it that) is an odd phenomenon. The three movies are totally unrelated, except for the fact that they all were directed by Harry Bromley Davenport and they all deal with extra-terrestrial encounters. The first XTRO was a peculiar little sci-fi/horror/drama-gem. A weird mixture of genres, but a good flick nonetheless. XTRO II: The Second Encounter was a shameless ALIEN rip-off, solid in creature-terror, but over-all bad. And XTRO 3: Watch The Skies unfolds more like a 90 minutes episode of THE X-FILES mixed with military stuff and ripped details from PREDATOR. So go figure.

Now, XTRO 3 is slightly better than the second one only because it actually has a bit of a plot. It has also another rather unique aspect: it's a sort of alien-revenge-flick (there aren't many of those, are there?) A group of expendable military misfits are send out to clean up a remote island, for the military has plans to build a base there. Soon they discover that there's actually an all different purpose to their visit as they encounter an alien on that island.

The actors are unknown & mediocre and the characters are all clichés. Except for Andrew"Djinn"Divoff. It's nice to see him again, but his performance is rather unnoticeable, and you get the idea that he's only any good when he can deliver witty one-liners. The camera-work is pretty bad too. The musical score is at times really cheap, but sometimes they surprisingly use the right scary sounds. But it was at those moments that I suspected they used parts from other movie's soundtracks.

As for the alien effects: they're pretty good, especially the moving facial features. There are some decent gore-effects too, but the rest of the special effects look crappy.

At times you will have to fight off boredom while watching this flick, but the occasional voice-over from the main character makes you want to know how it all will end. So, if your looking for an off-beat sci-fi quicky, XTRO 3 might be worth a watch. More demanding sci-fi fans should better ignore it.

This movie was not bad, it was horrible! The acting was at best equivalent to that of a high school production. The special effects were by far the worst I had ever seen. If you could not tell that the alien is a puppet, then I am sorry for you. The movie was bad even by the Scifi Channel standards. The "Bad Guy" character is pretty much your standard villain who has a shallow disposition and crummy dialog, the same goes for the rest of the "marines". If our troop really were to act as they did in this film; then we would all be doomed. One of the only redeeming scenes was the "Alein Autopsy" scenes, the black and white with grain texture was by far the biggest expense to the budget; however, this scene is also has some of the worst alien acting in the movie.

Well, given the fact that the first "Xtro" movie wasn't a particular impressive movie, I can't claim to have had much interest in the following movies. I wasn't actually aware that there were additional movies beyond the first, not until I happened to stumble upon "Xtro 3: Watch the Skies" in 2020. And being of the mindset that a movie should be given a fair chance, I sat down and watched it.

Well, at least 1 hour and 5 minutes of it, then I just tossed the towel in the ring and gave up. This movie was boring and uneventful. Nay, it was actually a stupid and pointless movie.

The storyline was stupid and seemed like it had been written by someone in primary school as an English assignment. Then someone had the brilliant idea of translating it into a movie script. Problem is that it just didn't work well.

The effects in the movie were hilariously bad, and seriously outdated even back in 1995. The alien was just such an eyesore that it was dragging down the entire movie. It was so god awful fake to look at, and it couldn't be taken serious in any way.

I had initially expected the movie to be somewhat better, since it had Andrew Divoff on the cast list. But not even he could lift up the train wreck that is "Xtro 3: Watch the Skies". And the movie also had Jim Hanks on the cast list, which I suppose served as somewhat of a lure for the audience as well.

I am sure that there are fans of these movies out there. I just didn't enjoy this third movie in the franchise in any way.

It puzzles me that people hates this movie so much, it's a fun and enjoyable Alien / Predator rip-off with no intentions of being a masterpiece. Look, if you want to see Predator, go and see Predator and not Xtro III. It's as stupid as renting Battle Beyond The Stars and expecting Star Wars!

Anyway, a group of marines is stranded on a remote island together with a mean and nasty 2-foot tall alien whose favourite pastime is dissecting humans. The little sneaky alien has some kind of slime that he traps unknowingly B-actors in and he gets invisible as well.

OK, it isn't much of a story but Xtro III has nice effects and is surprisingly gory at times.

"Xtro 3: Watch the Skies" (1995) is a spin-off of "Predator" (1987), the script is similar with some changes, the performances are good, the cinematography is fine, the music score is wonderful better than in the two first films and the special effects are amazing, the alien design is creepy and the gore special effects are cool. An important and really creepy scene is the one showed in an old video footage, it looks real. A funny film!

Some marines go to a desert island for some reason all awhile being attacked by a scrawny stupid looking alien that sounds like a jaguar. Xtro 3 is a Predator rip off movie that tries so desperately to be a great film to only be a r·tarded joke. No one in their right mind is going to take this sissy anorexic alien and his pansy ass vengeful anguish seriously. And the acting was just pitiful. And the pacing was s···. I did like some of the action and it does have some neat gore effects but any other effects are caca weiny and the creature effects are just so bad. I am sort of in a quandary with this one. It is stupid enough to be entertaining but not good enough to watch a multitude of times. So there you go. A non-conclusive review.

There was the unmistakable sound of a cougar screaming at least twice after the protagonists arrived on the island but of course they had no idea what a screaming cougar sounds like so they remained in the dark, much like the rest of this unfortunately-named "sequel." I suppose the cougar was also a sci-fi aficionado and made a desperate swim for the mainland to escape this sleep-inducing bore because we never caught sight of it. We sci-fi lovers weren't so fortunate and had to endure 90+ minutes of excruciating agony, hoping beyond hope to see some redeeming quality that others might have missed. 'Twas not to be. Everything about this turkey lays an egg; from the totally implausible choosing of the group of individuals to the acting to the makeup and special effects. If Xtro 4 is ever made, they'll have to pay me to see it.

This production was recently shown on Dutch TV, the TV-guide announced it as a very poor Predator ripp-off. Since the original Predator is one of my favourites, I taped Xtro for later reference. One day waiting on a cable guy I decided to view it. It was a long wait, I can tell you that. The urge of pressing the FF button every second scene was so enormous that I had to give in. This piece of junk does not even qualify as a Cult-thing by any standard. There is nothing to laugh about and script/acting/screenplay/continuity are so poor that you wonder why in the hell garbage like this makes it on video and National TV!. Don`t waste your time on this one. Go rent the original Predator, find a big screen TV, some Dolby stuff and let that cable guy stand in the rain for an hour or two....

The Harry Bromley-Davenport Xtro series gets worse as it goes along as here a crew is sent to an island to get rid of any left over ammo or weaponry from WWII so that they can create a refueling station. Only this crew likely wouldn't last a week and a half in the real American military with the drug use and serious mental problems that they show. In turn they stumble across an alien who is quite obviously upset and needs to open a can of whoop-ass. Sub par effects and even worse music. I would definitely suggest avoiding this entirely. Does star Robert Culp as Major Guardino who sets the crew up for the mission. Just stick with the original in the series (which this movie has nothing to do with).

"XTRO III: WATCH THE SKIES" (1995, Davenport) is better than its immediate predecessor but again has nothing to do with the original film (or, in actual fact, its immediate predecessor).

The CGI in this is awful. It's worse than the really early 3D video games of PS1.

But this does have a good story and (despite ripping off "PREDATOR" (1987, McTiernan) a lot in visuals) the alien is alright. I like this film, I like that Tom Hanks' brother is in it, I like that Robert Culp was in it, and I like that this is quite a sensitive film.

The basic plot has already been revealed. A bunch of gung-ho soldiers are on a mission on an island and run into some sort of alien creature. So far so good. Might make an entertaining movie.

However- all the actors really, _REALLY_ suck. They are type-cast in a way which makes it obvious from the very beginning how they will react to any situation. The next problem is that the plot is as boring and predictable as the actors. Unless you are somewhat challenged you are always at lest two steps ahead of the movie, and nothing will surprise you.

Whatever you feel like watching, just ignore this film. It is a complete waste of time.

Like Xtro II: The Second Encounter (1990), this has nothing to do with the previous movies. It is such a shame that it was not as mad as the first movie as that one ruled this trilogy. I had not laughed at a film for a long time until one unintentional comic moment in this excrement. I liked the way that there was an alien but the alien seemed to always be there at night-time even when the people that it was interacting with were in the daytime. It was laughable. I think that they were attempting to do something reputable but failed miserably. The alien did not look scary and sounded like a retarded panther. The story didn't make sense most of the time. This was a pile of poop from beginning to end except one unintentionally funny moment.

Here we are, Xtro-3 the third in a series of almost totally unrelated films. Though this one has the same director as the second this time there's a new writer which is a very good thing. The plot is miles better than Xtro 2 but this still only ranks it as an average one. The action is okay and the setting is okay the special effects are more believable than the second and much more effective. In fact the whole film is made alot better and is quite effective. With the plot of a team of soldiers sent to check out an island for the army only to find it's home to a very angry alien. This borrows quite alot from Predator but is done quite well, as opposed to Xtro 2's ripping off of the Alien saga. An okay action film but it never rises above being average and the ending is a bit stupid. I give it 4 out of 10.

You know sometimes you just need some trash to turn your brain off and enjoy...

Xtro 3: Watch the Skies (1995)

(7/10):By no means reflected of the film's overall quality, however the first was a Cult hit, being such a mish-mash of obscure and random elements with surprisingly well done practical effects that sequels were bound to happen.

Neither reached the level of success as the original as they were both more obvious in their so called "inspirations" however the third was still better than the second so it managed a smaller cult following as well.

Finally the film at hand,it's a lo-fi predator ripoff that takes a bit to get going as well as having some interesting effects as some were possibly dated at the time and some were actually somewhat solid.

The alien is the easy highlight of the movie as the human characters are poorly written and acted as well as very one note.

The death scenes are actually kinda good,at least considering that it obviously doesn't look as well done overall as the original.

It's just an oddity of filmmaking that remains pretty bad throughout but enjoyable given the right mindset.
