Gerard Cox and Joke Bruijs used to be married in real life, but divorced years before the show started. In several blooper reels, they are seen making jokes about their past as a married couple.

The comic strip is based on the series and developed by Comic House. It was published weekly, exclusively by KRO in its RTV guides "KRO Studio" and "Mikro" over approximately 5 years.

Based on the original American sitcom The Honeymooners (1955), the series was moved to the Dutch city of Rotterdam during the 1950s. Since the Dutch show lasted much longer, the storylines moved through the 1960s up into the early 1970's. The big changes in popular culture of the era became a main theme of the show, usually with Jaap being disgusted by modern times while the other characters embrace them.

In the original The Honeymooners (1955), Ralph Kramden and Edward Norton enjoyed bowling and playing poker and pool. Since these games were much less common in the Netherlands during the 1950s, they were replaced by klaberjass, nine-pin bowling, and carambole billiards.

In the original sitcom The Honeymooners (1955), Ralph and Edward are members of the Loyal Order of Raccoon Lodge. Since fraternity lodges are less common in the Netherlands, in most translated episodes the lodge was replaced by the nine-pin bowling club "De Brulboeien".
