Before the thrilling dinosaur-filled terror that was Jurassic Park, there was a different dinosaur movie that reigned supreme. The film in question will be coming to Netflix next month.
The Land Before Time will arrive on Netflix on Sept. 1st. Don Bluth created the iconic 1988 animated movie with a story penned by Judith Freudberg and Tony Geiss. The eponymous film would pave the way for countless spinoffs, including a whopping thirteen direct-to-home video sequels, a TV series, and even multiple video games.
The first film, and the only one in the franchise to receive a theatrical release, followed the journey of the young herbivore Littlefoot to the Great Valley. Joined by his triceratops friend,...

In 1989, Steven Spielberg was trying really hard to get into the animation game. He had served as executive producer on films like Don Bluth's "An American Tail" and Robert Zemeckis' "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," steering both of them to great success. He also founded his own animation studio, Amblimation, that year, hoping to continue his track record of making striking, original, and successful animated features. By 1989, though, Spielberg and Bluth had suffered a falling out, and new projects didn't come easily. As a result, Amblimation only ever made three features: "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West," "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story," and "Balto."

A good movie premise can draw audiences into a story regardless of how much or little they know about the film itself. Animated movies are specifically known for their imaginative topics that almost always delve into make-believe. But sometimes these animated features think a little too outside the box, and they concoct an idea that's downright bizarre.
A concept that is overly strange runs the risk of making a story nonsensical. At worst, these premises can distract from the film's crucial foundations, such as character development and a coherent three-act structure. While animated flicks like Bee Movie and Flushed Away still manage to create an entertaining end product, others like 9 and Gnomeo & Juliet are too unusual to offer any long-lasting value.

The "dinosaur phase" is pretty much a rite of passage for every child. If you're a man-child like me, your "dinosaur phase" has gone well into adulthood (no shame). Personally, I've never outgrown my sense of wonder and awe at prehistoric beasts. They're like fantasy creatures that you only read about in books — except they were real! Nowhere is my passion for paleontology more profound than when it comes to dinosaur movies. A milestone movie for me and millions of other millennial moviegoers was the "Jurassic Park" franchise, especially the original.
While the "Jurassic Park" franchise may be the king of dinosaur movies, it's not the only time prehistoric beasts have stomped on the big screen; they've entertained us for decades. Some dinosaur movies are genuinely great films, while some are so bad they're good, but all of them are awesome. I'm going to share some of my favorite dinosaur movies,...

Turkey Day is here, which means that all across America, LA-z-Boys have been dragged in front of TVs because the annual viewing of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is upon us. One way to get hyped for this year’s festivities is to remember some of the most epic fails of years past. From the infamous Uncle Sam and Spider-Man incident of 2012 to the numerous bystanders injured when balloons collided with street lamps, here are some of the most unforgettable — and uncomfortable — moments in the parade’s history.
Cat in the Hat Balloon Hits Lamp Post, Injures Woman In 1997, the “Cat in the Hat” balloon hit and broke a lamp post. A rogue piece of the metal fixture flew and hit a woman in the head, fracturing her skull, the New York Post reported at the time.
