Frankie Cosmos have returned with the announcement of their new album, Different Talking, out June 27th via Sub Pop. As a preview, they’ve shared the lead single, “Vanity,” and its accompanying music video. Stream it below.

For the band’s sixth LP, lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter Greta Kline was joined by longtime collaborators Alex Bailey, Katie Von Schleicher, and Hugo Stanley. The quartet produced Different Talking entirely by themselves. Pre-orders are ongoing.

“We’d go to any length to get Greta’s songs right, and she’s generous with songs, so we have a lot of freedom to arrange them,” Von Schleicher said in a statement. “It’s a rare talent to have, with rare freedom given, and the course hasn’t changed.”

Exclusive: Country music star Hardy is teaming up with Grammy-nominated songwriter Ben Johnson and writer/producer Dave Alan Johnson to executive produce the new docuseries Music Row, currently in production in Nashville.

The indie project follows successful songwriters and artists in country music today like Cody Johnson, Ashley Cooke, Hunter Phelps and Ashley Gorley. Set inside the world of the genre and modern Nashville, Music Row will offer audiences a view into how the hits are made and the inner workings behind the genre’s biggest hits.

Through Exceleration Studio, Susana Zepeda produces the unscripted series with showrunner Dave Alan Johnson. On behalf of the Studio, CEO Steve McBeth and Zepeda are handling sales for the series.

“This show celebrates those who walk into a room with nothing and walk out with a piece of art, a song, that can move people around the world for generations,” said Dave Alan Johnson.

Exclusive: The Europe-based Pop Up Film Residency Visegrad mentorship program has unveiled the filmmakers and mentors who will participate in its 2023 edition.

The program, which is among several feature development initiatives spearheaded by former TorinoFilmLab artistic director Matthieu Darras, consists of three-week residencies focused on mentoring filmmakers through the development of a feature project. Darras works together with Polish producers Iza Igel and Marta Lewandowska. This year the residency will be mounted in Warsaw and Wroclaw, Poland, from July 4 — 25.

Mentors for the upcoming edition include Polish director Anna Jadowska, Ukrainian director Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk, Polish director Aleksandra Terpinska, Hungarian—Canadian writer/director Anita Doron, Script consultants Michaela Sabo and Aleksandra Swierk, and Lithuanian producer Marija Razgute.

Five feature directors will join the program, including Polish filmmaker Katarzyna Trzaska, whose last feature, Nauka Latania, screened at the Warsaw Film Festival.

Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Network has renewed “Art in Bloom with Helen Dealtry” and “Restored,” and it has ordered three new cooking and renovation series while also revealing its August slate of premiere dates.

Premiering this fall are new shows “Big Sky Kitchen with Eduardo Garcia” (working title), “La Pitchoune: Cooking in France” and “Weekend Makeover” with DIY expert Jenni Yolo. “Art in Bloom” has been picked up for a third season and “Restored” for a seventh season, both set to premiere in the coming months.

“Big Sky Kitchen with Eduardo Garcia” centers on the Montana-based chef as he invites viewers into his kitchen, where he prepares meals drawn from his Latin and Jewish heritage, using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Magnolia has orderes six half-hour episodes of the series from Linguine Prods.
