De skrigende halse

Being made on a small budget, and with fairly unknown actors (bar one or two), the movie quickly outgrew any expectations it had before release. It was instant fame, mostly due to the excellently chosen casting. De Skrigende Halse takes place in an underground Punk miljeu, where a band is desperately trying to make it big. After a fiasco concert, in order to avoid confrontation, the guitarist claims he has a terminal illness. The local conman/drug dealer/record producer, Djarnis, decides to make a commemorative Vinyl recording with the band. The sudden fame, but also the consequences of his lie, causes unwanted problems for Ronni, and without much effort, he is in a world of trouble.

The mood and the excellent acting in this film, makes it cult. It is one of Søren Pilmark's most well known roles, largely due to his manic projection of Djarnis, who is a control freak and a thoroughly unsympathetic person. The film is definitely worth a watch, if possible to find with English subs at all.

This movie is about a Punkband in Copenhagen back in the 80´s. The band that consists of Anders, Kim og Ronni is not the most succesfull band in the history of Punk in Denmark, but when Ronni suddenly is going "to die" the local recording company gets interested, and so does the people hanging out in the "fave" bar. What happens next you have to find out yourself...

A fine movie with great acting from Thomas Bo Larsen (as always), Martin Brygman, Sofie Gråbøl and Søren Pilmark is really my "fave" in this movie

A Danish film cultural treasure with lots of talented actors.

It is a funny movie with takes its point from the punk scene in Copenhagen 1980, and the musical culture of the small bands.

The thing with 'drengen' is still a great part of the danish language today.

The importance of making a record is not so great today, but can be equated with getting enoughpublicity.

The plot is brilliant and the story is well told.

The most brilliant thing is the fact that the head doctor who abuses the patient is a woman.

A movie that goes behind the environment and shows how life can be behind the underground. This is an underground must-see cult movie. You will feel like you know the characters from the first farme. Feel the sorrows and anguish. Their toil through life and how they deal with the problems they get.

I'm not going to write a review. I'll just say - if you haven't seen this film - your life isn't complete and it will never be. The story is great and funnily enough it seems quite realistic, and not at all unlikely - there is nothing not to like about this movie - which is quite unique. The band consisting of actors actually became quite popular in Denmark, and did a few gigs - and actually released an LP ( BLACK VINYL! ) - there was also a series of radio shows produced as a "follow up" to the movie - these are also brilliant and would have a made for a pretty neat "De skrigende halse 2"..
