He spent a week in jail, but it wasn’t the first time the singer was incarcerated. He previously spent 131 days in jail in 2014 for violating his probation in the 2009 case for felony assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

When charged with felony assault, he pleaded guilty and agreed to five years of probation, community labor, and domestic violence counseling. In 2014, a judge ordered him to stay in a Malibu treatment facility as part of his probation. However, he was kicked out of the facility and was later sentenced to a year in jail.

Chris Brown has run into another legal trouble after he was arrested in Manchester on Thursday morning. Brown’s arrest comes after he was suspected of assaulting a music producer with a tequila bottle in London in 2023. A police investigation was launched after the incident, with the victim also filing a lawsuit against the singer.

In 2024, Brown was sued for $50 million in another assault case. He was accused of assaulting four concertgoers during his 11:11 tour in July 2024. Members of Brown’s entourage, Sinko Ceej, Hood Boss, and Yella Beezy, were also named in the lawsuit. Earlier this year, Brown sued Warner Bros. for $500 million for labeling him a “s*xual abuser” in Chris Brown: A History of Violence.

Out Oct. 27, “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” will launch ID’s third annual “No Excuse for Abuse” campaign. The doc will explore the legal issues faced by Brown, the pop star behind songs like “With You,” “Forever” and “Under the Influence,” which include domestic violence and assault charges and sexual assault allegations. Brown’s troubles date back to 2009, when he beat his then girlfriend Rihanna, causing severe facial injuries that required hospitalization. (Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault and accepted a plea deal.) In the years following, Brown pleaded guilty to a separate assault and was sued by a woman alleging sexual assault (that lawsuit settled out of court), along with a variety of other legal issues.

Chris Brown is currently regaling fans across North America with his 11:11 tour which is hitting the length and breadth of the country.

Chris Brown was technically over the influence during a concert on Tuesday night, after the R&b star got caught suspended in the air mid-song after his wires malfunctioned.

The Grammy-winning star glided across the stage on wires at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, while performing his song “Under the Influence.” Brown seemed to come to a halt, movement wise, mid-song, although the crowd seemed unaware at first as he kept singing.

An upset Brown then signaled to tour workers to help him down. Despite being stuck, he didn’t stop singing and continued to perform.

A ladder was brought to the stage, and Brown climbed down and finished performing his song, though he exchanged words with one of the tour workers who helped bring the ladder over.

At the end of the two-hour concert, he told the audience he was angry but also made light of the situation.

David Dobrik, the 25-year-old YouTube superstar, has a grin that speaks a thousand words. Dobrik is the quintessence of cute — eager and baby-faced, with big dark puppy eyes and floppy brown hair combed so that it never seems combed. Clad in sweatshirts that he wears like pajamas, he looks like the comic-strip character Dondi crossed with Mark Wahlberg in 1995 crossed with the world’s smarmiest frat-house douche. When Dobrik grins, his face lights up, but he’s a self-contained firecracker. That grin is a smirk, a freeze-frame guffaw, and a snicker of contempt all at the same time. It’s the look of a class clown, of a kid who can’t believe what he’s getting away with, or of the nicest, most polite office colleague who is also, in case you weren’t looking, the worst corporate backstabber.

David Dobrik, in short, is a dude who looks a lot like America.

This year’s SXSW Film Festival marked the first in-person edition of the Austin gathering in two years, and it was filled with buzz for new movies and crowds eager to embrace them. In early 2019, Casey Neistat began filming “Under the Influence,” about 23-year-old YouTube phenomenon David Dobrik, capturing his evolution from prankster to online celebrity with major brand sponsors and tens of millions of followers across social media platforms. But in 2021, the docu took a turn when a Business Insider story documented sexual-assault allegations by a woman against a former member of Dobrik’s Vlog Squad, Dom Zeglaitis. When the article went viral, Dobrik’s world began to collapse around him and Neistat was there to capture it. The result is a can’t-take-your-eyes-off-it feature docu that sheds light on the social media’s ecosystem and the personalities it perpetuates.

Casey Neistat has made a documentary about fellow vlogger David Dobrik that’s set to appear at SXSW – and the film is already causing controversy before it has even premiered.

While neither creator has promoted the film, which is called Under the Influence, per the SXSW schedule, the 100-minute feature proposes to “capture one of the most precipitous rise-and-falls in the history of the internet...in real-time.” It is set to debut on March 12 at the festival, with an online screening the following morning that will be available worldwide.

The film chronicles two controversies weathered by Dobrik: sexual assault allegations surrounding a former collaborator, and a near-lethal accident in which Vlog Squad member Jeff Wittek incurred serious eye injuries while performing a dangerous stunt.
