During a promotional interview with Gene Siskel, director Sondra Locke pretended she was six years younger than she was. Locke turned 46 in May 1990 and her age was published as 40 in the Chicago Tribune that month.
Sondra Locke had an agreement with Warner Brothers to direct three films for them as part of her separation agreement with Clint Eastwood. After both Ratboy (1986) and this film failed to cover their production costs at the box office, Warner Brothers terminated the contract.
