Burt Lancaster was announced for a role, but illness prevented him from appearing.
The cemetery tour hearse used in the film was borrowed from the real life Hollywood tour business, Grave Line Tours!
Though released in 1991, the film was actually shot in early 1989. It was intended for a fall 1990 release, but for unknown reasons, it was pushed back to the following August.
Barbara Hershey had previously played real-life axe murderer Candy Montgomery (Morrison in the film) in "A Killing in a Small Town" (1990). Her costar here, Mary Beth Hurt, eerily resembled real-life murderer Betty Broderick, who was found guilty of killing her husband. Her story had been made into two TV movies in 1992 which featured Meredith Baxter as Broderick. Both actresses have some bloody confrontation scenes in this film.
