Perguntas frequentes

The mutation of the dog was a result of the Telepods malfunctioning which caused the teleportation to go horribly wrong leaving the dog deformed. A similar incident happens in the 1986 film with a baboon.

Martin's transformation was faster and more rapid than Seth's transformation which Seth's transformation took over 4 weeks. Martin's transformation began in the evening when he discovers the videotape of Seth Brundle in the early stages of his transformation into Brundlefly and escapes from the Bartok complex to see Beth. Martin and Beth visit Stathis Borans the next morning and they arrive at the motel that evening which later at night, Martin begins going into his cocoon state. Bartok arrives at the motel in the hours of morning to take Martin and Beth back to the complex and Martin hatches from his cocoon at 4:24AM. This means Martin's transformation took over 48 hours.

An alternate ending was filmed, but deleted which Beth sits next to Martin and asks him how he is feeling. However, The Fly II could had multiple different endings. One possible ending could had seen Beth go into the Telepod with Martin instead of Bartok in the gene swap which Beth willingly sacrifices her life so Martin can be restored to human form.

Several months after Ronnie Quaife shot and killed the BrundleFly (in the first movie), she dies giving birth to their son. Young Martin is raised by Anton Bartok (Lee Richardson), head of Bartok Industries, the company that funded Brundle's experiments with the Telepod. For all practical purposes, Martin looks like a normal, healthy male child with only one exception ...he is growing and maturing rapidly so that by five years old, Martin (Eric Stoltz) looks like he's 20. The night after having sex for the first time with girlfriend Beth Logan (Daphne Zuniga), Martin's fly genes kick in and he begins to transform into MartinFly, which is just what Bartok has been waiting for.

The Fly II is a sequel to A Mosca (1986) (1986), which itself was a remake of the 1958 version of A Mosca da Cabeça Branca (1958), both of which are based on a short story of the same name by French-born (later British) author George Langelaan [1908-1972]. The story was first published in the June, 1957 issue of Playboy magazine. The screenplay for The Fly II was written collaboratively by Mick Garris, Jim Wheat, Ken Wheat, and Frank Darabont.

Only Stathis Borans (John Getz), Ronnie Quaife's ex-boyfriend, has a returning role as a reclusive drunk. Ronnie is shown birthing Martin at the beginning of the movie, but she is played by a different actress, Saffron Henderson (Ronnie was played by Geena Davis in The Fly). Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) is seen but only on archive footage as his character died at the end of the first movie.

Martin had been born with the DNA of a fly, unlike his father who was spliced with a fly when he teleported in the first film. Somehow this factor accelerated Martin's transformation.

The MartinFly breaks into the Telepod bay and kills Scorby (Garry Chalk) the guard, but does not harm Beth. He then grabs Bartok and uses his hand to type in the "magic word": DAD. The gene-swapping program kicks in, and Martin drags Bartok into the Telepod with him. He motions to Beth to activate the teleportation sequence. Despite Bartok's screams, Beth activates the sequence, and Martin and Bartok are teleported together. When the door opens, Bartok emerges as a horribly mutated monster. Martin emerges behind him and, although he is covered with blood and slime, his human body is intact. Beth rushes over to pull the slime from his face and embraces him. In the final scene, the mutated Bartok crawls to a dish of gruel in the same pit where the mutated dog was kept, and a fly is seen crawling on the edge of Bartok's food dish.
