He became a household name in 2001, when Chandra Levy, a Federal Bureau of Prisons intern from his district, disappeared. While Condit was not an official suspect in the disappearence, he admitted during questioning that she was his mistress. Levy's remains were found in a Washington D.C. park in 2002. Her death remains unsolved.
