The humor of "Filip z konopi" (Philip of hemp) is not for everyone, but only for those who remember that time. But taking aside the funny side, "Filip of hemp" is also a kind of Orwellian "1984" but expressed through the means of comedy. Let's quote here the film director Jozef Gebski, who described his film in those sentences: The film is about one day in the life of a so-called high-rise building, inhabited by several thousand people. It is actually a miniature of our society. The main character is an architect, Andrzej, who is in conflict with his professor-an enthusiast of building more high-rise buildings. The other characters are similar to each other regardless of their profession: milkman, garbageman, caretaker, harmonist, etc. All the apartments are similar to each other, identically furnished with identical faults. Everyone leaves for work in two types of cars in the morning, and they also return in droves. The lives of the high-rise residents are integrated by television, which everyone watches all evening. After the program ends, the caretaker closes the staircases, and everyone goes to bed. So in my opinion, "Philip of hemp" is very funny for people who understand the realities of time and place, but there is also a serious side of this film that is universal.
